View Full Version : Midland Railway Station Deep Excavations

I've just been past the Midland Railway carpark and where the carpark used to be, there are deep excavations.
Looking over the fence you can see the remains of a huge wall that is obviously below ground level.

The wall is similar to the large one built at Bridgehouses at Neepsend which also is situated next to a railway terminus.

Take a look next time you go past and in you have any idea what it could be please can anyone let me know.

Sorry Darren I don't know but you have me wondering.
I find historic stuff very interesting and moreso when it's in Sheffield and to do with old railways.

The River Sheaf on it's way to meet up with the Don (Blonk Street)is supposed to pass somewhere under the rail station.

Could it be where the river is culverted?
