I've also been there at lunch, which was a real bargain and the food was lovely. I've just booked a big table for my birthday as i liked it and it's in the night life hot spot for continued drinking afterwards. Any recommendations on the menu? I had the salmon last time which was delish! Cant believe this is you're only reply to the post! Loads of people must have been there?

I've been to Las Iguanas on a Saturday

got 2 cocktails for 1 in happy hour (the chanpaigne ones are ace)

The meal afterwards was OK, but the portions were a bit small and nothing that special really. I'd say cocktails at Las Iguanas and the a meal for Antibos next door will definitely be on the cards next time...

You don't happen to have an interest in Tequila do you Steven? :D

Very funny! Does Steven work there by chance? However, i'm confused. Is there a Tequila and a viva tequila? Just that the link for viva tequila above (just looked it up to see what the fuss was about - and it was voted Sheffield's best restuarant 2003 so probably is very good) but it's not on West Street but on Gleadless Road, S12? Are there two just to confuse?

But on the 'Sheffield's best restaurant 2003' thing, it doesn't mention anything about the awarding body.

Perhaps the judging panel was made up of just Steven himself? :)

Viva Tequila is a restaurant in Gleadless.

I believe we are talking about the Tequila Bar on West Street here, which is a smartish late bar which incorprates a tapas restaurant.

There's "Tequila" on West Street. Viva Tequila used to be on the corner of White Lane in Gleadless but is now called Mambo...I don't know if it is still owned by the same people but I don't think so. Finally there's a Viva Latino on London Rd which I think is owned by the same group.

I'm guessing Steven could probably fill us in on the details :D

Hi to all.Viva tequila was opened in 1998 and was awarded best restaurant 2003 in sheffield by the mega centre . They also own TEQUILA on west st but it is a totally different concept.Viva Tequila did change to MAMBO for a while but is back to Viva tequila.however viva latino has nothing to do with them.

And you? going to remain a mystery then?

I don't understand why people feel the need to remain anonymous while clearly pushing an agenda. steven wouldn't it be far more effective to say "hey I'm the owner/promoter etc. for Tequila and if you drop by on your night out and mention SF at the bar I'll get you a drink on the house"?

Just a thought. Hit and run postings don't instill a lot of confidence in your service.

I agree! Either that or you're sleeping with the owner!

steven

You're not so clueless, Muff, I am actually sleeping with the owner, it's my wife!!!!!

Sorry been away from a computer for almost 2 weeks! Wow, i got it right about steven sleeping with the owner. About my name, i cant divulge (as it is all to do with a silly story which i dont think anyone would find amusing but my friends and i - all who have very strange names also!) I will say though though that it isnt what you think it is (if you're thinking crude thoughts!) Sorry, you'll just have to keep wondering....

Good to hear from you, if you're ever in the West Street area, call in for a free cocktail on us. Just ask for myself or John and explain who you are. It would be nice to meet you.

I went in last night, it took forever for them to come take our order, the food was OK but the steaks were overcooked. Not very impressed. :(

Where did you go Tequila or Las Iguanas?

Went here last night for my mates 22nd.

Friendly staff, but food was pretty standard. Took AGES for the 3 courses to come out, and ended up costing us over £30 each for the meal.

Quite nice food, but wouldn't have been my choice.

Went here a couple of years ago for a work xmas do, but obviously didn't pay for it myself so no idea of price..

Iguanas is awsome! The fajitas are spot on, and they bring the chicken out on those hot plates, yum:thumbsup:
