View Full Version : How good is firefox 2??
boobafet 06-11-2006, 23:25 been using it for 20 minutes after using 1.5... for an age and i love it already!!!!
all my spelling mistakes are a thing of the past and the add on manager is fantastic!!
whoever still uses IE after this is insane...
carcrash 06-11-2006, 23:34 I've found it to be very buggy and some parts of it are very annoying. I've gone back to using an older version 1.5 I think with updated filters.
sugarcube 07-11-2006, 12:54 the old one was so good, theyve had very little to improve upon, i dont like the scrolling tabs at the top, was better when they shrunk.
its not different enought to bug me that id want to change back. im lazy like that
been using it for almost 3 months now without an issue...
i never open enough sites at once for the scrolling tabs to annoy me so pfft :P
still prefer kMelon though

Same here.
boobafet 07-11-2006, 15:53 what do you mean by updated filters?
carcrash 07-11-2006, 15:58 Stuff like ******* and some of the google things, I've messed around with things so much I'm not sure what i have got and what i have not.
When i installed the new version it wrote over everything on the old version so all my settings have gone to cock.
Using it now, its faster and more customisable than IE7 but I also like parts of IE7 too!
Swings and roundabouts :)
Been using it since release . But i couldn't get used to the little X on each tab . But i found a work around to put it back on the right hand side of the screen , same as 1.5

Viper_GTSR 07-11-2006, 17:12 What is the work around? That is the one thing that annoys me about it.

Top tips, thanks one and all.
For those who are having stability problems, the chances are that the problems are caused by extensions.
Can we use the themes from previous versions?
Banjo Griner 08-11-2006, 10:38 The spell-checker - where is it? Either it isn't activated on my PC or I'm missing something...
SpiderPete 08-11-2006, 10:45 I am having problems playing video`s from YouTube on F2
It comes up with this error:
Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest flash player.
I installed the latest flash player and Javascript isnt turned off, unless I need to look elsewhere.
Tools --> Options --> contents --> the enabel javascript has a X in it

Banjo Griner 08-11-2006, 10:56 Thanks mate - doesn't seem to be the one, though. FF2's spell-checker is built-in apparently.

I don't think so. The maintainer will probably have to release a new package.

You will need to install the dictionary.

The following is true for linux, and I guess for windows too:
The flash player can be stored in several places. I bet you've got the old one in one place and the new one in another. There is one "plugins" directory which applies across the system and another which is specific to a certain user. Find the "plugins" directories on your system and scour for flash files.
And don't forget you need to restart firefox for the changes to take effect.

Ah OK. Thanks Richard.
