View Full Version : Cold nights - can you help...
Dear Forum members
Spring Street, the kennels that look after stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs, desperately need bedding as the temperature has dropped and the dogs are getting cold at night.
If anyone has any unwanted blankets and sheets, donations will be gratefully received at the kennels based at 83 Spring Street, of Shalesmoor, or to Head Office, Gayton Road in Pitsmoor, at the environmental services. If bedding is brought to Spring Street, could you please make sure it is taken to the black door with "Sheffield City Council Kennels" written on it.
Many thanks to all who can help.
I may have some fleece jumpers that were heading for the bin - are they any good?
Do you want to re-advertise in the pets forum too? (click the link in my signature ;) )

Blimey - that must really itch? My hairs limited to the outside :hihi:
Dark Moomin 08-11-2006, 07:12 Don't know if its any use to you here, but I know that Oxfam near my mum have knitted blankets made which get sent out to Africa. However some are deemed not of suitable quality and they get donated to the locat cats protection league for the same purpose as you are asking.
Might it be worth contacting them and seeing if it would be possible to sort out a similar arrangement? I'm afraid my house is really cold so I use all my blankets, but I shall definately make sure anything going binwards comes to you.
kittencapes 08-11-2006, 08:59 Would it be possibe for me to post some blankets to you? if so what is the address?

Trishtee 08-11-2006, 14:21 Butler, The hospital laundries discard very stained bedding (it is laundered first) so if you know anyone with transport who can fetch it I'm sure they would be happy to let you take it.
Ashcroft 08-11-2006, 17:44 We have loads of quilt covers and curtains that we were going to sell at a car boot but as we are dog lovers we will gladly donate all these to you we will drop them off as soon as we can..
Henrietta 08-11-2006, 17:51 if you know anyone with transport who can fetch it
I'd be happy to volunteer for that if there were difficulties logistics wise
.
Thank you to those who have offered blankets etc, - including fleece's which would also be welcome. I'm new to the forum and PM access is denied for a short time so I can't PM those who have donations but no transport. Perhaps you could PM me and I will arrange to collect. For those who prefer to donate directly, the kennels are on Spring Street (near West Bar Police Station). Thanks also for the suggestion of hospital linen and Oxfam blankets -I 'll look into that and thank you also for the offer of transport.
These donations will be very gratefully received.
LitleMermaid 09-11-2006, 11:05 I have a spare single duvet if that is of any use?
Also, I too would be happy to collect bedding from people who don't have transport. :)
Hi
I'm responding to my PM's in the main thread as I'm still unable to reply to individuals via PM. Curtains, duvets, sleeping bags, pillows (maybe fibre filled but not feathers I think) - will be gratefully received. I know the bedding is washed regularly....so anything that is washable will be acceptable.
I'm aware that many people have responded and donations of bedding have been steadily arriving all week. The kennels will need all they can get over the next few winter months, so please, anything destined for the bin that can be used will be put to good use. So a very big thank you to all donors - your efforts are greatly appreciated and it's heartening to know there are so many people who care. It would seem that some of you have organised transport amongst yourselves, but if there is anyone who can't get to Spring Street, please PM me.

If you are struggling to get them there, but would like to donate, give me a shout & if you are not a million miles away - i could come & collect & deliver with the ones I have
