Hey everyone, moving to sheffield in september and into taptonville flats. I'm really unsure what to expect as I had my heart set on crookesmoor house. If anyone could give me any advice on the area - all I know is that it is extremely hilly which worries me slightly! - and in particular the best pubs ;) I would be extremely grateful! Thanks x
well, theyre not the most asthetically pleasing of places, but this will become insignificant when you get to know everyone. theres five in a flat but you will definately get to know everyone in the other flats. theyre in a lovely area - very near broomhill - so youve got one of the best student areas and the countryside just round the corner. grindstone ( about 2 mins away) is a great pub. its a cool place to live - dont worry!

Thank you! I'm very reassured now I know theres a good pub not too far away! I've heard the houses aren't particularly pleasing on the eye but i suppose you can't get everything you want - still a bit worried about that hill but i suppose the exercise will do me the world of good! Especially after guzzling so much beer :-)

HEllo ... i am an ex tapton resident, i lived in the flats at the top of the the road number 49 to be precise, in 2001 i think?
anyhow, had a fantastic time there, met some great people and spent a fair bit of time in the pub.
going to lectures isn't so bad because its down hill all the way so makes life easier when hungover or otherwise...
hope you have a goodas time as i!
Taptonville should be better than crookesmore IMHO, at least location wise. Had mates there who were very happy, and the Grinder is close (and still just 2 mins 20 seconds from my house now!).
