Not much detail has been issued on these new stations so far. The only information I have read so far is that ABC1 (own by Disney) will be a British version of its USA channel. It is due to launch on Sept.27th and will operate 0600 to 1800 to start with and hopes to go 24hrs asap. It will also be advert free for the first few months. The first program listing will be released next week.
ITV 3 is to launch on Nov.1st and will be aimed at the over 35 market.Programmes like Morse,Frost,Cold Feet and possible back catalogue use of Granada/Carlton classic programmes like Brideshead may get an airing. The station will only have a budget of 12million in its first year of operation so may only be on air for part of the day.
Talk/speculation for the past year has Virgin radio/3cr radio/ a further Emap radio station wishing to join the line up and in tv Channel 4 has pencilled in expansion plans for a tv channel aimed at the 35+ market with a working title of 4 More.
