Hi, I don't mind admitting I'm a complete beginner with computers and this question is probably common sense or something but here goes anyway - Why does the time on my computer screen keep changing on it's own? I changed it to the correct time yesterday and I've just noticed it now says 06.55. What's going on?

Most computer's clocks do drift out of time. But not massively.

You could try using this (http://www.worldtimeserver.com/atomic-clock/) windows feature to keep your clock on time.

Sounds like the battery on your motherboard is flat, simple job to buy one from an electrical store like Bardwells / Maplins and fit, is the date wrong as well?

No the date is always correct.

The date isn't going to slip unless your clock managed to slip 24hrs at a time ;) Loosing a few seconds/minutes isn't unusual but as xircon says, it could be a battery going flat.

When mine went it reset the date to the original bios date of the motherboard something like 01-01-2002 iirc

It sounds to me that you have it set to the wrong time zone, e.g. US time. Check you have it set to GMT.

Is this your home PC, or a work PC?

If it's a work PC, chances are your PC clock will synchronise with a domain controller/server. If the clock on the server/DC is wrong, your PC clock would be wrong.

Do a search on microsoft.com for "Time service"

Hi GazB - no it's a home pc. It's strange cause it happens for a few days in a row then it's fine for a few days.
