i was driving through glossop yeaterday and there are some Green Cameras. They flashed a car in front of me but I don't know what for. I dont think he was speeding, and there were no traffic lights there.
I thought it was law that the speed cameras were painted yellow anyway??
Does anybody know what those cameras are for????
They are part of a road safety campaign in Glossop, Mottram and surrounding areas. The green ones do not have real camera in them but do flash with the desired effect of drivers seeing the flash and slowing them down. I think the big signs they have in that area that flashes up SLOW DOWN when you are above the limit have more effect though. There is a camera on the hill going up to Mottram Moor just before the Save petrol station on the A57 that is real.

The SLOW DOWN signs are known to be more effective than speed cameras! funny then that they don't use them...

Having lived in Mottram for the last 10 years I am led to believe that all green cameras are in fact real and are used to convict drivers - the majority are painted green due to many areas of Mottram being 'conservation areas'....the one on Broadbottm Rd (next to the Wagon & Horses pub) was actually named "Britains Sneakiest Speed Camera" last year and featured in the Daily Mail & Express...!!!!
