View Full Version : Asylum seeker unstitches mouth
so the asylum seeker has unstitched his mouth and stopped his hunger strike.
Do you think that this was planned or coincidence ?
I do wonder after all thats happened and been said why hes stopped now.
MuteWitness 23-08-2004, 11:28 so now he has got alll the attention, will he be able to stay?
Well he's probably stopped because he's about to die.
David Blunkett says that he will not be made an exception of.
Sure it's safe for the guy to go back to Iraq, all you have to do is turn on the tv and watch the images of happy Iraqis and all those US carpet-baggers...I mean contractors...and foreign journalists dancing in the streets with the insurgent fighters of radical clerics.
The last time I saw the footage, it looked as though the US marines and the insurgents were passing the time with a nice game of paintball...but I was puzzled as to why they were only using red squibs...must be in short supply in a former war zone...I mean sight of the continuing war on terror.
MuteWitness 23-08-2004, 12:39 understandable but its not just him thats had to go back and why is he different from the others who arnt able to stay in england
He's only different in that he made a point of his opinion by sewing his lips together and slashing his arms to ribbons.
I was thinking about this yesterday. Surely the best thing for someone facing deportation is to run away somewhere quiet and keep a low profile until the authorities give up looking for you (judging by some newspapers this doesn't take long!). On the other hand, sewing your mouth together and making national news is a sure-fire way of ensuring the authorities are going to give you 'special' attention and in the case of this guy, probably deport him after all.
slimsid2000 23-08-2004, 13:09 A lot of blood (some of it British) was spilled making Iraq a safe place for people like this man to return to. The asylum system is designed for those in genuine need, and even then there has to be some sort of limit to our humanitarinism. I think he should now return to his own country and be very greatful to the British, americans etc who fought to make it a safe place for him.
A.B.Yaffle 23-08-2004, 13:11 If he has been through all the proper procedures and the powers that be have decided he should go back to Iraq then surely that should be the end of it... remember we don't know all the details of the case. I don't think it would have been right of Blunkett to make an exception in his case just because he was going to starve himself.
They'll have to wait a while...Iraq is far from safe right now.
i hear theirs a flight out of manchester tonight to iraq, he should be in it
slimsid2000 23-08-2004, 13:14 Presumably the reason he had to leave Iraq in the first place no longer applies.
MuteWitness 23-08-2004, 13:14 only because the people in iraq just want to carry on fighting

Are you being sarcastic?
I don`t think this guy was as close to death as his supporters led us to believe but no doubt the truth is something we will never know
should send his supporters to iraq aswell

I can think of somewhere much better!!!
what barnsley????? surely thats contravenes more than 12 rules of the geneva convention
royjames 23-08-2004, 17:41 Well it is good that common sense has prevailed and his hunger strike is over, and I have to give blunkett some credit here for not giving in to blackmail.
This man has gone throught the process and has been found to not have a sufficent enough reason to stay in this country, now he shoul'd be put on the next plane out of here.
But what are the odds you think that he will still be here in a years time,I will tell you very good indeed.
O h and while were at it we shoul'd put all those who jump on the band waggon on the same flight out.
The one thing that has not been answerd is this mans real reasons for coming here in the first place and how he got here, one suspects that he did indeed travel through many safe countries to arrive here but maybe some one can shed some light on this.
I woul'd like to know the reasons why his application to remain here was denied, but I dont soppose we will get to know that.
alchresearch 23-08-2004, 22:11 According to the poll on the great sheffieldtoday website:
Should asylum seeker Naseh Gafor be allowed to stay after he called off his hunger strike?
7% Yes
93% No

Slimsid - what planet do you live on? Safe? Don't make me laugh. Iraq is more dangerous now than it was when (Evil Dictator) Hussein was in power. In my opinion, you should get your facts straight.
MuteWitness 24-08-2004, 09:58 why dont u put him back in power then if it was less dangerous
Yeah yeah - very intelligent response. You can be proud of that one.
Iraq is a more dangerous place since the Allies invaded. Fact.
I have not advocated returning Hussein to power. Fact.
If you can't post intelligently, perhaps you shouldn't post at all. Opinion.
