Just watched Silent Hill and I honestlycannot work out what it's on about?? Can anyone explain to me what actually happens??

you have to have played the game to understand the movie....my mum constanly used to play the game and so i know about it, and understood the film whereas my mate who had never played the game didnt understand the film one bit :)

Sean Bean's voice got on my nerves so much I turned it off lol.

There's only one bean (and her names not sean) (its kathy) :)

I didn't understand the very end bit, was she alive or dead, or what ?

the ending to the games have always been a little hard to understand and the film just carrys it on

i think that she and her daughter are stuck in limbo or she died when she 1st crashed the car just like the bad ending on the original game

I liked it, but didn't get it. In fact I think that is why I liked it, you can simply make up your own ending. I didn't think that they died though, just some kind of alternate reality.

it just left me confused and feeling like I'd just wasted £3.95 on a movie rental!! Any good films I should try next time I rent??

Hostel is a winner when it comes to horror. Or Stay Alive, but dunno if thats out yet.

I never played the game and nor did my dad but we both understood it. Silent hill is a place where a huge experimental accident happened and her daughter was suffering from some sort of disease, they were both dead at the end. Its difficult to explain but i know what i am talking about.

if you want good quality horror you need to go back to the 70 and 80s beats the new stuff any day

Nah, it's a good laugh, you'll enjoy it.

My dad said its too sick for me to watch and i believe him because its not very often he finds a film he cannot watch. He said the directors a bleeping bleep head who needs to bleeping sort his bleeping head out lol.

I liked it, weird yes, but, I tend to like weird films, such as Memento, Cube and Donny Darko, I also have all the games of Silent Hill, so, I am just a fan of the series, heh.

The Cube films are good.

They wedged in the bit with the nurses - not sure that worked.

Great game tho - scared silly with a PS1, a rumble pack and the lights down......oh, i've wasted my life.

Okay, reporting back... feel like I've been robbed of two hours of my life that I can never get back. Dull and about as scarey as a sleeping kitten.

I just don't find wierd computerised monsters in any was interesting or frightening. And I thought the bit where the woman had her skin ripped off was cr@p!

I felt I'd wasted life and money watching it.. too!!!

I don't think I'd recommend the film to anyone.. might have to try the game though ..

The film wasnt really as good as the game tho.

I thought the ending was handled pretty well.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone but isn't the end supposed to be purgatory, there was enough symbolism about it during the film IIRC.

The second game had a lot of the same symbolism, plus pyramid head and the nurses.

As for why they are in the film, oh come on, Pyramid head is cool, pity they couldn't make him as scary as I felt he should be.

The screaming cinder babies were the most scary (thought nothing was really scary). I remember when I saw it in the cinema that their screams really benefitted from surround sound and it turned up loud.

neither was Resident Evil, or Doom, you would think we'd have learnt by now, game related films are crap.
