I seen them next to every speed camera I have passed, does anyone know what they are for ? They seem to connect to a little black box chained up to the camera post.

View Full Version : Two cables running parallel across the road from speed cameras PENGUIN 22-08-2004, 13:17 I seen them next to every speed camera I have passed, does anyone know what they are for ? They count the number of cars to collect traffic flow information. They are NOT speed detectors. Speed detection equipment looks the same, but is usually (not always) connected to something more than an unattended box (like a computer / camera in the back of a van/police car). Also, speed detection equipemtn of this type has 3 cables, not 2. If the cables are next to speed cameras, they are possibly induction loops used to calculate your speed, although these are usually burried into the road, not sitting on top of it, and again, there shouldbe 3, not 2. There is a lot of usefull information at http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/ Which may help you to identify the particular device you have spotted. Maybe they're re-thinking sites LoopyLou 23-08-2004, 12:10 So..... if we avoid the areas where they are currently, they will move the cameras somewhere else, which means we can go back to the original roads and not get caught.... iv'e been drinking - sorry! |
