Having just found out that my (admittedly cheap £) new webhost won't allow me to upload exe files, can anybody recommend a reasonable-cost host that does, and allow PHP files as well?

i use www.hosting-unlimited.net and they are ok.

As for the exe, why not zip it up and then get your users to extract the file when they have downloaded it? I bet quite a few hosts will block .exe as a security precaution.

Ah....
The file in q is password encrypted and has to be processed by a PHP script, so yes, you would eventually download a zip file, but the script has to verify certain aspects first, and unfortunately can only do that from an exe....
You're right though - lots of hosters block 'em, and I'm not just talking of free sub-domain jobs . I've just been "caught out" by 100webspace, but only after I'd paid!
Cheers anyway....I'll give hosting-unlimited a look....

Not neccessarily looking for a free site, but suspect saveitfree won't allow exe files anyway.....

Oh dear Ghozer.....maybe I wasn't quick enough!
As at 23.12 hours Saturday, looks like saveitfree is a gonner....
Hopefully just their server going through some motion-or-other....!!

Bummer!
11am-ish, Sunday morning : still a no-no as regards SaveItFree...

Incidentally Ghozer, found another good one (not free though) last night, iPowerWeb....reads really well, hosts exe, zip and PHP, 99.9% uptime etc....decided to sign up, got as far as the payment section...
They accept Access, BCard, Amex, Drongo Beans, Nescafe jar labels, KitKat wrappers, you name it - except PayPal, which is what I wanted to use....

God's sense of humour strikes again!

Yeah, know EXACTLY what you mean!
Funnily enough, last message I put on this very thread lead me to look bottom left...and there was an ad for Banana Hosting!
Signed up this afternoon - very reasonable, great helpdesk (a few initial questions) and will be trying it tonight....
$36 for 12 months....£18.00 ish?
AND they accept PayPal, 'cos I'm skint too, but with a small + balance with PP!

Thanks Pakospiotr,

However, I couldn't find any info on their site suggesting they allow you to have multiple sub-domains?.. How do you know their packages allow this?

There is a Live Help on their web site. It may be worth asking...

Thanks!

I just tried the LiveHelp, and it didn't work, I could type Hello in the box, but it didn't allow me to press enter or click to submit button, and so it timed out!..

Any other recommendations?
