EDIT: And he's got his own cologne.

Indeed - you have to saute him just for that - whatever your personal opinion of him is.

Most boys would love to do either !!!

That is just so, so depressing.

It's also probably an indication that both of their careers are ended. It's a bit like getting the 'Lifetime Achievement' Oscar.

Victoria's career is long ended. Dave has made a brand for himself, what with his fashion sense and his football school. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have success out of football.

I believe that David Beckham, in terms of erudition. must rank up there with Khalil Gibran.
His explanation of his goal against Greece, '' I just hit the ball and there it was, in the back of the net '' outguns The Prophet by some margin.

He's not a good talker. But you know, why do people ask players to explain a goal? It's there for all to see.

It is another example of the subtle way the powers that be are making the honours system worthless, and a laughing stock, Tom Jones, David Beckham, Rolf Harris etc. The list goes on. They have done plenty for themselves, but nothing for the country.
They are handing these out like toffee apples at a fair, why not just change everyones title from 'Mr, Mrs or Ms' to 'Lord and Lady' ?
It would save all the argy bargy about taking peoples titles off them and the Yanks would be well impressed when we went to the USA :D

I've nowt particularly against Beckham but what's he done? Has he won us the World Cup or the European Championship .... Knighthoods should be the crowning glory of a long and distinguished career; Sir David Attenborough, Sir David Jason, Sir Terry Wogan. Ok, Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent are still a bit young but have long, distinguished and well-rewarded careers.

Watching Posh pouting and posing all over the place when he was getting his OBE/MBE whatever it was, was bad enough.

Ermm what has he done to deserve this?

He played for Man Utd
He captained England and they never won anything or played particulary well.
He plays footy abroad now.
He has tattoos, likes getting his haircut and he likes shopping.

And that deserves a knighthood?

OOps forgot he was unfaithful to his wife but pretty much got away with it.

If I attatched any kind of merit to being knighted, I'd be angry, but it's a joke. It's basically for celebrities who have done something. He has done a good job of promoting England I think. Look at all them japanese kids who buy England shirts and support England over Japan. Hilarious.

He is probably been nighted for the ammount of affairs he has had while married, and as for victoria she is a utter dog.

I'd chose katie price and peter andre any day over these two.
We have a couple that live on our road that get called posh and becks no one really likes them they are same as celeb posh and becks in the sense they have there heads up there back ends.
Mind you i would need my head up my back end 24/7 if i was married to victoria. It would be great if someone shoved her head up her bum cos she is apparently too posh to push so id like to watch her get out of that one.

here is a few jokes to keep you all amused..

Q: What would David Beckham's name be if he was a Spice Girl?
A: Waste of Spice

Q: What do David Beckham and British rail trains have in common.
A: They both go in and out of Victoria

Love football - liked Beckham in his hey day - but that is so wrong. He's won nothing for England, he did sell a few shirts in his time (and sarongs!) but a knighthood for David is madness.

Win a world cup - no problem - but this is out of order.

Out of all the other celebrities who have been knighted like Trevor McDonald, Elton John etc. I think Beckham is probably the most deserving person to get knighted.

The other thing is why do so many people hate and dislike Beckham so much?

What has he ever done to anyone that is so hurtful or malicious?

Er, not won a world cup is quite enough.

But seeing as you ask - Not being part of an England team that was fit to be called the golden generation, getting sent off v Argentina - being Svens best mate and, not being able to be dropped, affecting the way the England team should have moved on - not having the guts to tell Rio he was an idiot to miss his drugs test - being part of the fiasco when other England players talked of refusing to play to support Rio for missing his drugs test.

In his defence, the free kick against Greece was the best goal I've seen at first hand, but a knighthood - you're having a laugh.

Yeah, John "Basil Fawlty" Cleese was offered a CBE 10 years ago apparently but he turned it down :(

I didn't say it was just his fault - but he's won nothing for England - so I believe he doesn't deserve it, or he deserves it as much as Gary Neville/ David James/Paul (oops, was that the ball passing me on the way into the net) Robinson.

Win a world cup - no problem, with medals all round and the odious pictures with the Prime Minister, but not until then.

Various different ranks of snobbery. (They used to mean something significant, but that time has LONG since passed.)

There are other Orders, as mentioned in this article, which can confer knighthood.
