Do you use the nearest one or choose one that

is value for money?
wider ranges of choices?
later opening times?
quality?
best offers?
better quality of service?
small queues?
better layouts?

I use to go to Asda in Handsworth for its 24 hours opening and I would go after 12pm when not as many customers are around but they keeping changing the layout which ends up taking 10x longer to find things leaving me to go to Morrisons in Mosborough.

My ideal choice would be Tessco for better choices for Vegetarian food but there isn't one close enough that I know about for a regular trip.

Sainsburys on Archer Road. Good quality, good prices, and generally has a good wide range of stock too. Marks & Spencer is very good for quality. Asda is possibly the best value.

Me n the missus use 24 hr ASDA at Handsworth, Sainsbury's at C Peaks and Tesco on Abbydale road. Sometimes we use Morrisons at Halfway, but we generally don't like it there! All it's good for is the salad bar IMHO!

I use Morrisons because it's nearest but my favourite if I have time to visit is Sainsburys.

The thing I find with Morrisons which really annoys me is that the fruit and veg has a much shorter life than other more expensive shops. Also things like coleslaw and cottage cheese never last as long as the use by date says. I have taken loads of yoghurts back that have started to ferment and push the lid out even though well within date.

I have to say this and am sorry if any Morrison employees read this but their customer service leaves much to be desired and they obviously spend much less on staff training than their competitors.

After saying all that I do think that they represent value for money:D

It depends on how much time (and money) I have. I use Tesco quite often in Rotherham if I'm in that area. They have some good bogof's (buy one get one free). I sometimes use Asda at Chapeltown which is not too far away and has some quite good offers from time to time, also it has a decent range of clothes, but not as good as the Aldwarke store the other side of Rotherham. When I'm pushed for time and money I use Aldi at Masbrough. Because they don't have a vast range of goods you can get round there in half the time it takes to go round Asda. Unrecognisable brand names mostly but CHEAP and most of the things I've bought have been enjoyable.

Just got back from Safeways (Upper Hanover). Why is it they put the fresh meat counter (and its sickly sweet smell) right next to all the fruit and veg? I'm not actually a vegetarian, but I can imagine it must be very unpleasant for them - it is for me!

Safeway on bottom of Eccesall Road or Sainsburys because neither has piped music.

Morrisons at halfway, is good value with lots of get one free offers. Having said that, we always look at the prices and offers because even there, you can pay more for certain foods than at other shops.

We also shop at Aldi, and Sainsburys for foods, which are good value on some lines, but not on others.

I use Somerfield...grudingly. I sometimes shop at their Firth Park store, and their prices are breathtakingly expensive compared to the Netto up at Sheffield Lane Top.

Somerfield and Kwik Save are part of the same group, and I'm disgusted they have chosen the Somerfield route to suck what little money is left out of the pockets of the good people of Firth Park and into the palm of their shareholders.

A Kwik Save would be a lot cheaper (if a lot tackier)

Maybe, but I wouldn't trust their fruit and veg.

Or their bread and milk for that matter

Nothing beats Marks & Spencers food hall. You can taste the quality, even in the ready made meals. You pay that bit extra but everything tastes so much better than anywhere else, even the fruit & veg.

I shop at Morrisons at Ecclesfield, and get my cleaning stuff and tin stuff from Netto, though the milk and bread at Netto i would not touch with a bardge pole.

I actually buy that long life UHT semi-skimmed milk from Aldi.
Cheap and tastes good. Creamy!

Morrisons at Halfway is best for BOGOF offers and such. Asda has cheap prices all the time, but as it has been mentioned previously, the store at Handsworth is under construction. (Can't find a thing when I'm there!)

I really dislike Morrisons at Darnall, it's so dirty! I wasn't impressed at all. While browsing the store, there was a slight whiff of something smelly, so I wasn't in a rush to get back there. I also think its a bit dodgy around the car park. You have to go up that lift which is poorly lighted, which makes it a little bit scary!

There isn't a Tesco around here, so I haven't got any comments on that store. There's going to be a Morrisons at Big W soon, which'll be more convenient.

I stopped going there because I got fed up of tripping over BMX's and getting into staring competitions.

Seeing as you dont mind your produce from Chernobyl then why not shop at Lidl, they are currently doing some great offers on tumble weed.

I use ASDA on Queens Road, S2. Simply because they have a wide range of products and it's easy to reach from where I live. The only let down is the cashiers are slow at their job and queues soon build up, the shoppers waiting in the queues get irritated by just standing round and I've even seen arguments start over who's next in line in the queues. ASDA needs more tills on the go with quicker serving cashiers.

Tesco all the way!! Only reason we don't have ocado deliver to the door is that the neighbours might feel jealous.lol:)

Lidl or Aldi for the basics and the random aisle of wonder.
Local fruit and veg shop for the obvious
Pops for spices, lentils etc.

Infirmary Road Tesco, cos I live round the corner from it :D

They did cock up when I did my shopping yesterday though, I bought 3 Pizzas, which were on offer, £1.50 each 3 for £4, they only charged me for 1, I did query it at the customer service desk, but they wouldn't do anything, so I thought "Oh well, they gave me 2 free Pizzas! Why complain?".

I think Asda at Handsworth is badly managed always empty cardboard on the shelves do the staff ever tidy the shelves the place is a nice new store but a mess the same at Parson cross nobody takes the empties off the shelves waitrose used to be pricey but not alays good quality like M&S Tesco is too big they have far too much to sell and as for Saville street you need roller blades just to get around why is it have to be so big probably because it absolutly must sell everything a big turn off for me!

This thread has to be that old for someone to claim they don't live near a Tesco's.

Whatever is convieniant....

Morrisons is my favourite.. Although Im now thinking it depends on the area.. I dont like the sheffield halfway one.. it seems too clustered.. I like the Catcliffe one when I lived at Aston.
And the York Road one at doncaster, as its near..

Asda- I love their online shop only. Because not only is it convieniant, their complaints department love to throw money at you. You can whinge about the silliest thing, and they love to give you money.

Tesco... only for some wine/milk on the way home from work... the people in my local one put me off...
