Try here:

Animated gifs (http://www.webdeveloper.com/animations/)

or here to make your own:

Gif Works (http://www.gifworks.com/)

Thanks for that, Max.
Found a good GIF, right click and 'save as,' but windows saves it as a BMP with no option to save as a GIF or anything else for that matter!
Any Ideas, anyone:confused:

UPDATE: got it resaved as GIF, but lost the animation...:loopy:

If you have a paint package that supports animated GIFs (Jasc's Animation Shop or Serif Photoplus), right-click the image then COPY and then paste it into the paint package and then save as an aminated GIF.

Thanks, Alchresearch.
Have downloaded Jascs animation shop, right clicked image, copied and pasted into jascs, as you advise, but on 'save as' no option for save as animated GIF comes up in the menu:confused:

Just save as a GIF in Animation Shop, it will be automatically animated.

I've just found out that you can't copy and paste into Animation Shop. But, if you right click your animation and then click "save picture as.." you can then load it up.

Try it with Max's animation above, it works ok.

Try going to the website again where the animated GIF is, make a note of the filename, locate your temporary internet files and find the specific GIF file with the matching name, and then copy and paste the file to somewhere else on your drive.

PS. Feel free to PM me if you need any help.

t020, I gave up the ghost, emailed my sister in law (she is a web designer)
After several emails to no avail, she zipped the animated avater and I was able to save.
The problem I have (I use windows XP, by the way) is that whenever I right click and 'save picture as' the only option to save in the drop down box is as a BMP - no options for ANY other extension. anyway, she is up on a visit next week, good oppertunity to sort it out 'hands on'...
Thanks for your offer of help:thumbsup:

Update:
Turned out the reason that I did not have an option to save as GIF was that my hard drive was full of undeleted 'temporary internet files'
Anyone with same problem, go online, click 'tools' then click 'internet options' there will be an option to delete temporary internet files/cookies. Soon as I did this, got the option to 'save as GIF'
Amazing:thumbsup:
Alternatively, off line (on XP at least) click 'start' 'all programmes' 'accesories' 'sys tools' 'disc cleanup':)
