I'd like to know too! carcrash 21-08-2004, 17:13 There used to be one up on Wolstomholme Road, Just off Sharrow lane near Huttons. It's still there according to my Mrs. There is another on Wolsley Road. Plain Talker 21-08-2004, 18:38 hi, carcrash! we're "neighbours"! Yes, you are correct, there is a launderette, on Wostenholme Road. a couple of doors along from Huttons, the corner shop by the traffic lights. It closes about 7.30 pm. there is a third one in the district, on Sharrow Vale Road, but I'd say that from London Road, it'd be more of a hike than the other two to get to. (I didn't realise that the one on Wolseley Road was still going! that's a real "blast from the past!) PT fuzzy 30-08-2004, 22:33 I sometimes use the on on Eccelsall Rd, in the shopping centre where Somerfield is, you can put in your washing/drying and then go shopping and/do your recycling. Have to say that there are not many around nowadays though, one on Crookes and in Broomhill are closed. graceomally 04-09-2004, 22:44 go up william st from eccleshall rd (by the petrol st, opposite safeways) till you reach the next junction about 2 minutes walk, then turn left - there's a parade of shops and the last one is a launderette. think they do service washes as well, but may be wrong. I know its across the estate but don't be put off. There's a coffee morning and credit union collection in the Sunnybank meeting rooms just on william st on tues ams 11 - 12, just long enough to do some washing, pay in some savings, have a coffee and a chat and go home again. Its quite friendly, and its only a five minute walk from highfield trinity church, where london rd splits with Abbeydale. wouldn't go up there after dark however unless you live on the estate as it has a reputation for being a very different place once the sun goes down, always found it fine in the daytime tho'. |
