watched the film, not read the book. I think the book is supposed to be better as it goes into more detail.

SORRY POSTED BY JUBBYUK (babycakes hubby) didn't know she was signed in.

Technically none... I downloaded a audion book, easier for me to listen to on way to work, as I on the bus a 6 so can't read while walking or at the bus stop.

It is a good STORY, but I don't belive any of it, none is based on scripture and is very flawed.

I have read the book and loved it...in fact, loved it that much I have read it twice. Not seen the film yet. I've heard it's not as good.

I have read it and eagerly awaiting to see the film on DVD. I found it excellent, couldn't put it down, read it in a few days. Ok so there are flaws and my dad said he worked out one of the later codes before the protagonists did - but I would definitely recommend it.

I saw the film which inspired me to read the book - the book was amazing I read it non stop on holiday and would recommend it to anybody, just want to go to Paris now to go on my own little da vinci queat (sadly my friends all think im a loser and will not acompany me!) :D

I started reading the book, then realised it was fiction and packed it in, I thought it was a real theory not just a made-up story.

Can't think why.

Have you considered a quest to find the One Ring instead? Or at least find out exactly which volcano it was thrown into?

After reading the book then watching the film I find it difficult to understand how anybody that hasn't read the book can understand the half hearted attepmts at the charactors side stories in the film.

Book rubbish, typical american attitude to brits and french in my opinion. If you read it don't bother with the angels and demons. I was about 1/4 way through when it dawned on me it was almost exactly the same as davinci code. So never saw the film. My Dad on the other hand loved both book and film

To save time when reading Dan Brown, just read the first and last paragraphs of each chapter, where he helpfully summarises for anyone not paying attention. :)

The dross in between is almost impossible to read IMHO (just full of fascinating facts for dumb Americans like what a smart car is etc)

Book is a worthwhile fun throwaway read. The film is bobbins.

The book is possibly the worst I've ever read and I feel dirty for having read it.

I wish I had the time I spent reading it back again so I could do something more enjoyable like attach electrodes to my genitals

Must agree that the book was very ordinary. Excruciatingly cornball in parts but at least it stopped me wasting my time on any other of his mega sellers.

That's what I thought at first!

As to the book itself - oh dear. Interesting ideas, but it is SO very badly written it's almost unreadable. :gag:

Whats so odd is that people have chosen to believe it is true, it's like believing "Death On The Nile" is about real murders.

I enjoyed the book, It is written very much like a film script i thought but i still liked it. The film was ok....i really disliked the ending in the film, i can't remember in detail what was different but i know they changed it which i found quite unnecessary and daft!

i thought it was a bloody good yarn.
i bought a story book , i got a story. what more can you ask.
i read it twice before seeing the film. the film was ok - i was more impressed by the cast than the film.

I've read the book and thought it was a good read so long as you dont take it as seriously as dan brown obviously does - it was quite fast paced and i really wanted to get to the end. i havent seen the film though - was put off by all the bad reviews!

The book is utterly dreadful and incredibly badly written. My cats - who lack opposable thumbs - could have made a better job of it.

Unsurprisingly, I haven't seen the film. I've read/heard a few reviews which said that its quality matched that of the book. Tom Hanks, complete with serial killer hair, put me off too.

Enjoyed the book but not seen the film yet!!! Heard it's not as good as the book but will get chance to watch it hopefully soon.

The most entertaining thing in the movie was Tom Hanks' wig. Bloody awful movie and the book is just as bad.

Enjoyed the book, didn't like the movie as much especially the parts they changed. But yeah, if you can get over book-snobbery and just enjoy a good old-fashioned page turned, it's the one for you.

But read Angels and Demons first. It's set before DVC.

Nothing to do with book snobbery. I have shelves stacked with early Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reiches and Agatha Christie, none of which could be called high-brow.

Dan Brown simply can't write. And the story behind 'The Da Vinci Code' has been told much better by others elsewhere.

Agree 100% Hecate.

Book snobbery dosnt come into it.If you want to read the same story, but written well, get The Templar Revelation by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince.A much better book, imo.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Couldn't put it down. Found it quite gripping. Haven't seen the film - waiting for it to come out on DVD although understand not as good as the book.

I think it was a good plot for fiction. Never took it seriously. Just thought it a good read.

awful awful awful. I can't even think of a word to describe how much i hated this book. im thinking of digging out my gcse coursework and having an instant bestseller. my mum threw it out the window in disgust and was only upset at having missed the pond.

im an american and dan brown makes me angry.
i read three of his books and they were all the same. in fact when i finished the last one i read (something about meteorites in ice) i threw the book across the room i was so angry.

hes an awful author who writes for people who dont like to read.

Sub-average book (passable if you want to while away some on a beach turning your brain to mush but not much else). The story has been gone into manymanymany times before and has usually been much better written! As for the film I saw about the first 7 minutes of it before turning it off and was impressed by my mental stamina!

Much against my better judgement, I read this "book" a couple of weeks ago.

I didn't think over much to it, TBH. I wish I hadn't wasted my time.

(PS, no, not seen the film... and after reading the book, I shan't bother, really)

A friend of mine who saw the film said it was one of the worst he's ever seen.

I know a few people who have read the book who commented on how basic, infantile, poorly written and generally ridiculous it was.

I doubt I'll ever read it.
