View Full Version : Sheffield promotion double?
royjames 19-08-2004, 19:24 Some people may think I need to have my head examined but I have recently been to the bookies to get the odds for both sheffield football teams to win promotion and I was given odds of 28 to 1.
Now being the eternal optomist I have wagerd £5 on them doing the double,do I have a hope of winning the bet??
Robbie Loving 19-08-2004, 19:27 united promoted and wendy not
Wendy??? I wouldn't promote her too robert!
you mean sheffield wednesday dont you robert?
kelly_owls 20-08-2004, 13:28 United always seem to brick it when in the playoffs though and judging on recent form I cannot see them even reaching the playoffs.
I doubt Wednesday will get promoted either, more likely they'll slip even further down the divisions IMO given their recent performance :loopy:
kelly_owls 20-08-2004, 13:37 What as in 2 away wins? 6-goals!
royjames 20-08-2004, 16:56 Trouble with the owls though Kelly is they freeze when playing at home, probably due to the pressure which is on them to win at all costs.
As for the blades if they win tonight at preston then I think they will take off big time, anyway I still think those odds I was given were worth the gamble.
Hope so R we have not won at Preston in 50 years had a good chance at the end of the season 3 - 3 but we could not hold onto our lead, but fingers x we will win tonight & Hayles & Harley will score(neck online).
United will NOT go up this season. Hayles will be a big flop, Warnock will retire to his pig farm in cornwall and all the fans will moan about how they are still better than wednesday like they normally do.
royjames 20-08-2004, 19:38 But we are better than the owls.
Lol,
Even Accrington bloody Stanley would be better than Wednesday at the moment....
Who are Accrington Stanley you say?! LMAO! I rest my case...
royjames 20-08-2004, 20:45 Well blades win tonight we are on our way now, watch us go up the table now this sheffield double may be on the cards.

how you can compare 2 such sides when we have stability and good players is beyond me
YES you have been better in the past, but we tend not to look at that as you cant change it

you are right mate , the problem with us owls fans is we cant seea big succesful cup winning side like sufc who over the last 20 years have been a top outfit, and competed at the highest level, god help us lol.
Beastieboy 22-08-2004, 14:37 I think it will be a promotion double this season, as much as I hate to say it but SWFC will go up as well as United.

Whilst he's at it maybe he could fit a silencer to his gob, yes I know i'm a blades fan but he can keep it going on for just a bit too long even for my liking.

I would wear my United shirt but they're not on sale yet, I feel the need to look like a large orange. I have to do with looking like a large lime
:D
just 2 make a point 2 roy james i dont need 2 wear a shirt 2 be a owls fan ive been going 30 years. also ive watched weds thro good and bad times and trust me theyve had far more good times than sufc. beat man u 1991 lg cup , 2 cup finals against arsnal, lost both granted. european football , just a further point the attendance at hills yesterday was only bettered by leedsin div 1 and was bigger than 3 premier lg matches. please post sufcs average last season or season b4, nowhere the owls , cant understand can you.

avergage attendances have certainly rose for united, but going down for weds
like i said in another post, youngsters make up for a lot of attendance, and wednesday by far have had a better past
fans are standing by them and they now still get a good fan base, now it to say united went up this season
weds stayed in div 2 for a few more years
we would see a dramatic change, people switching sides etc
