Based on my readings on this Forum many people do not seem to have correct information on public transport information for one reason or another. So do readers think its time for a poll on the subject... What type of public transport information provision would you like to see>>>.
1) current individual route timetables
2) District timetable like we used to have Sheffield/Rotherham
3) Local Sheffield District booklets
4) Free and Mailed to every House
5) On sale at say 60p ( based on Derbyshire CC 3 Editions)
6) Better marketing required
Look forward to replies

The district timetable was the best that we used to get "in the olden days"

After around two years of complaining about the absence of bus times at the bus-stops I have given up with the PTE or whatever they call themselves.
My concern began while I was waiting for a bus into town at Hunters Bar around 11.15pm.A young woman came along and asked me if there were any more buses that night.
From experience I happened to know there was another one due in a few minutes. But there was no information at the bus-stop -and still isn't.That young woman could have been stranded there for ages not knowing if any more buses were running.
The first reply I received from the PTE was that "it was a problem displaying complete timetable on multi-service routes such as Ecclesall Rd.
I responded by pointing out that there was plenty of room to display advertisements - and if space was a problem just display a condensed timetable including the last buses.
The PTE said they would look at it -but haven't.
I gave up -and bought a car.

Well, the stop level timetable information shows up on quite a few stops, so they're at least trying.

Whilst the PTE should be doing more to get the information out there, am I the only one here who checks their last bus times before going for a night out?

I understand that the PTE and First are planning a couple of pilot schemes in the next couple of years.... one is to be on a main corridor route where an electronic display (similar to London Underground) where buses are tracked on route and the control room then sends a message 'the next sevice xx will be in xx mins and the other is a text message service to your mobile.
I sure I have read some where that the tenders were due to go out soon and that the radio/satellite tracking system to First's complete bus fleet in SY will shortly be complete.

Yes I know where to get information from kelly owls. I am asking the people out there how would you like the public transport information given to you.please read the thread.

Given that most people have email addresses now, I think they could possibly do regular emails regarding any changes to bus timetables.

Either that or send text messages to people with mobiles.

Technology, it's wonderful innit? :D

I think the reply from the PTE would be if you have a computer at home you can gain access to their site travelplanner on a daily basis. The PTE has set it self the task of increasing public transport usage so I feel a printed hard copy timetable mailed to every house is the best option as your car owner will not be calling at a PTE travel shop to pick up leaflets, so hasn't a clue what is available. Based on what you read on here most seem happy that their car is only used for around 2 hours a day and is parked up the rest of the time!

I'll go for option 2, but without Rotherham.
a large all companies, all lines, all services for Sheffield, free off course.
