I've had an email from paypal saying my password has been changed and if it's not by me then it's a security alert. However, I'm unable to follow the link given. Does anyone know what this means??? Or how to resolve it?

Thanks!

Ignore it - the link you tried to follow would have took you to a page that looked like paypal but was a fake. It was a phishing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing) attempt.

I allways log in to paypal from ebay, I never as a rule log in from an email from them as there are allways far to many of these sort of mails knocking about

I get these confounded phishing type emails all the flipping time!

Usually from people claiming to be some Bank or other, Barclay's usually... For God sake I haven't had an account with Barclay's Bank since probably 20 years ago when I was in the Hillsborough one, probably first Bank account I ever had, only had about 2 quid in it iirc.

Go to paypal by typing in www.paypal.co.uk in to your browser. Don't click on a link in an email.

Log in - if you can't log in, email Paypal.

If you can log in, nothing to worry about.

Just forward the email (and all others from Paypal / Ebay or a bank) to SPOOF@PAYPAL.COM - or ebay.com etc.

I get these emails now and again as well. I was very wary of them so I sent a copy to both ebay and paypal and they both confirmed they are bogus emails. Never click on a link to such emails. Always access through the proper site.

Yeah this is what my mate advised me to do when I started getting loads of these emails almost on a daily basis. Just forward them on to spoof@paypal.com and you will get an email back from the 'real' paypal thanking you for bringing the emails to their attention.

My daughter had an email supposedly from paypal saying that someone had tried to change her password. She logged on ok so it hadn't actually been changed. Was this a spoof one too?

I'd guess it was. You can always forward them on and if it is geniune, their return email (which I have found to be quite quick) would state so.
