My hamster keeps itching his sides about half way on his body, on one side there is a scab could it be fleas? what can i do

DOn't know enough about hamsters (I'm a cat person) but I'd suggest that if there's a scab it's worth a trip to the vest just in case there's a risk of infection.

f_g you could try Sam Miguel he seems to be know about hamsters.

Just got your PM f_g. It sounds like mites or fleas to me. I don't really know much about medical conditions when it comes to hamsters, although I can recognise death when it occurs as it did with our previous hamster 'Tiddles'.

Try googling. If no luck, it's the vet's I'm afraid.

My bet it's chicken pox.

ive not noticed any itching for 2 days now, but i might not risk it am going to try and get patrick to the vets
