My girlfriend and I moved to Sheffield about 3 months ago. Without knowing which areas were supposed to be favourable to live in (for young student type people). We ended up moving to Wybourne right near to manor park. Since we moved in we have been harassed and bothered by kids between 10-14. They shout abuse, threated and throw whatever they have handy at the house, which i can deal with. A few weeks ago some of them broke into the shed in the garden, there was nothing to take, but still they were on our property which in itself is quite unsettling, but we didnt let it bother us too much. However, tonight my girlfriend and i got home at around 10.50pm and at about 11.30 someone was trying to break down the front door, they did quite alot of damage and nearly kicked it right through, i still can't figure out wether they were intending to break in or wether it is related to the previous abuse we have gotten. The police said that if you dont quite fit in around there then you will get hounded.

We have made a few friends since we moved and all of them say that manor park has a reputation for being a rough area, which i didnt think so much before, but now i just want out.

I am looking for a house or a flat somewhere around Ecclesall Road, i dont care how many bedrooms, just so long as it isnt student (as i am not a student). Please post anything, i am desperate to move.

Thank You,

Chris

That's pretty dire :( you've got my sympathy there. its very difficult to live in an area where you dont feel safe. As for ecclesall road, it might be difficult at this time of year as it is the last month before students return. Landlords around that area operate mainly to cater for the large student population.

I would check out the area of S11 because I know some of those streets have flats available.
sorry i cant help more :(

you could try this?

Hunters Bar is pretty good too :)

Hunter's Bar is quite expensive though as it's quite "posh" up there despite the large population of chavs, er I mean students :loopy:

I live in Burngreave and never see any trouble. it has a reputation from years ago and is ethnically very diverse but you don't get the scum hassling you like you do on the manor.. If you live up there I guess its cheap so if you are looking for an area that's not too expensive but close to town then I think this has lots going for it.
Sorry to hear about the hassles, those kids should be sterilised then beaten!

Hi,
I have a flat to rent, it is a single bedroom (double) on Wostenholm Road which is only a few minutes off Eccy Road and is the edge of Nether Edge/Kenwood. It is 'compact' but it depends what you want. If that is of any help, get in touch and I can email you some photos. It is £375 pcm, purpose built block and I am looking for postgrads/young professionals etc. There is a lounge/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, and we have just finished rewiring, replumbed, new bathroom, new carpets etc etc.
Good luck either way, hope you manage to find somewhere better.
My phone no is 07947 279719

There are loads of houses to rent around Hunters Bar. Pick up a copy of the Sheffield Telegraph this Friday. Alternatively, just take a walk around, try Pinner Road, Hunter House and Hunter Hill roads etc, they all have houses which which have boards to rent outside.

Try Crookes or Broomhill, both decent areas. Prices aren't that sky high either and public transport is easy.
These areas are known to Sheffielders to be fairly rough (no dis-respect to those that live there) - Manor, Parsons Cross, Wybourn, Fir Vale, Firth Park, Sky Edge, Norfolk Park etc. Any other places that you want to know if they are rough or not, ask on here or PM me.
