Have installed zonealarm firewall, and have also now installed msn messenger. Will the zone alarm block incoming instant messages (from listed addys/non listed?)(listed is on hotmail )
am running 98se if that makes any difference.

(also is it normal for a computer running on a lan to work like the A61 roundabout at ponds forge! you get broadband info flow for a while [say minute, then you stop for 30 secs/minute, then back on again. Its like hitting the lights on that bloody round about - sheff planners dont have anything to do with broadband do they!)
(this was happenning befor zonealarm aswell)

Top question is more important as I drive and am used to **** waiting! :)

I never used to have any trouble when i used Zonealarm and messenger together.

there shouldn't be an issue as long as you tell zonealarm that messenger can act as a client and a server.

no, that's not normal behaviour for broadband.

Are you using a USB cable modem or a netword card? I had no end of problems with the rubbish network card that came wiht my modem, stuck a Intel pro100 in and all problems went away.. try a different card, any card!

sounds more like a router/packet switching issue...

Am using a speed touch 330 external modem plugged into the back of my computer, with wanadoo 'server'? disc. on bt broadband.
(whats a router/packet switch?)

whats it plugged into in the back of the computer? a usb connection or network connection?
If its into a network cxard it will usially have lights the card that flash incase you are not sure.

there are 3 little rectangle ports i think usb

Also when you click on the little comp screens in thr bottom corner,
the bytes sent/received is not moving (till 'lights change ' and we're moving again!)
Both lights on the speed touch stay on till moving then one, (usb!!!) flickers other is marked adsl (just stays on)
