A Poll could be useful here but does anyone really care about the Olympics? Does anyone watch it? It seems to be getting a vast amount of TV, Radio, and newspaper time and I was interested to hear peoples opinions about it. Synchronised swimming- How boring is that :D

I like watching sports that you would never see on TV normally (Okay, I could possibly do without synchronised swimming!)

And I like watching athletics and it is obviously the biggest athletics meet there is.

Couldn't care less!!

I'm with Yoda- its cool to see summat you don't usually get on grandstand. Rather that then the golf (or god forbid the darts)

Yeah some of its a bit dull but them the breaks innit?

Judo - cool
Gymnastics- gobdroppingly good
Boxing- dissapointing but eh
Horseriding - dull

Thats about all I've checked so far.

When they gonna have like a UFC thing on the olympics though- why allow one martial art at the expense of the rest?

It might be because UFC is a professional business where the competitors earn hard cash. I can't see them been willing to fight for free, can you?

I love the Olympics.

i agree, good to watch something different for a change. Its suprising how quickly you can get into synchro diving, just because we have a chance of winning something. and the guys got silver - good effort, (especially as one of them is from our very own steel city)- go on my son!

i'm now a fan of women's beach volleyball!

I don't see how they've got the cheek to class this as a "sport". It's more like soft porn, crossed with the sort of half-baked game families play at the seaside with an inflatable beach ball.

It should be relegated to a sort of It's A Knockout version of the Olympics, along with synchronised swimming/diving and handball (that strange game that's like a cross between hockey, football and basketball). I can hear Stuart Hall laughing now "and, ooh yes, look how far her shorts have ridden up her clacker! That's got to be an Olympic record! Ho ho ho!"

the original olympics were done with competitors naked and even the first modern olympics in 1896 was done in the nude! what would stuart hall make of that i wonder!!

Indeed.... Me and Sid need our daily dose of Neighbours babes... Lyn, Susan, Steph... The list goes on, except Izzy Hoyland, she's nice and all that but she's too bitchy to be fanciable, especially after what she's done to the Doc and Mrs K.

I like watching the olympics, loads of diffrent sport to watch and all day, it`s good for me.

The Greek athletes/drug scandal is better than any soap..you couldn't write it. Brilliant.
As to beach volleyball. It's boring. Why not just stick to ordinary volleyball?
Soft porn? OK the competitors aren't wearing very much but it's hard to imagine anyone getting into a lather looking at those beanpole figures.

I've quite enjoyed watching the Olympics. I can flick it on in an evening and get completely hooked in no time.

Although I find a lot of the floor work really samey. What happened to graceful movements? All the girls do all these weird jerky movements which looked rushed. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to be, I don't know all the ins and outs of gymnastics. Maybe they are trying to get as many things in their alloted time but it just looks a bit odd to me. Does anyone know what I mean?! :confused:

I have been watching the olympic gymnasts too. It seems very different to my day.

I seem to remember things had to flow and be graceful. Defo not the case now. I know there had to be certains moves incorporated into a floor piece but now it just seems they are running through the list without much interpritation of the music etc.

I always enjoy the gymnastics womens team event. Always seems very competitive.

Having just watched the men`s coxless 4`s win and then to sing the national anthem, it makes me proud to be British.

I would not have missed it for the world, i was in tears with the achievement of those involved in them winning the race, what a race.

How can anyone not be intrested in the Olympics when we compete and win against the best.

How can you not feel proud to be British.

Well Paula has lost, the pressure on her must have been enormous, that and combined with 40 degree temperatures finally did for her.

Let's hope she can come through it and emerge a stronger person, although I can only feel for her right now.
