Has anyone seen any shallots for sale ? I've hunted high and low with no success and now the garden centres seem to be full of Christmas stuff.

Dobies has shallot seeds in stock, but not sets :( Are you looking for sets or shallot seeds, mc55? (I've never been able to grow onions/shallots from seed :suspect: )

There's a fab selection of shallot seeds on Owdlad's link (that site's going on my favourites :P), but no sets left in stock apart from hative de niort, which are expensive. Boo!

Are the Carlingfords for early Spring D_K, or to plant now?

It was suggested by Monty Don on telly to plant Carlingfords in Sept for a very early crop for the Christmas dinner.

I bought bins & compost but couldn't get the spuds :hihi: story of my life

wow, what a great link ... but I want sets (of course !) ... sigh - might have to resort to Tescos finest again ! Had no idea they were so difficult to get hold of.

What about Fosters ? Anyone been / remember shallots ('cos of course I know thats the first thing you all look for when you go to a gardening place !) ha ha ....

LOL, I'm still shallotless - could be worse I guess ....

What about buying some shallots off the veg stall & planting those?

Would that work?

I'm resorting to putting a few owd spuds in me bins & hoping for the best now.

hmm, good idea - anyone know if the market near to the Moor sells them ?

DK, think its a bit late now to plant spuds for Xmas dinner - I think (but I'm happy to stand corrected) that they should have been in during September ...
