Any one else heard the xylophonic bing, bing bongs reminiscent of Maplin's holiday camp resounding round Hillsborough and Walkley? I had assumed that they came from the fair down in H'boro park but they ring out at all times of day starting at 6 am. Sometimes they are followed by mumbles over a tinny sound system.

Probably the bowls tournament at the bowling green in Hillsborough Park. I used to live closer to it than I do now and it was a constant background noise during the summer.

At the bottom of Stannington Road is a Car Sales pitch with a security camera and speaker sat on top of a pole. We fell foul of this contraption whilst walking home about 1:30 am some time ago.The speaker burst into life with the bing bong and then at full volume, a warning in a tacky American accent telling us to " Move away from the vehicle at once!!......You are now recorded on our security system and should now hand yourself in at the nearest Police Station!!. We were'nt even near the cars, simply walking past on the pavement. As our local nick is now closed at night and we were unable to summon a passing constable to hand ourselves in, we continued on our way with the infernal machine still ranting on. Bet the immediate neighbours are dead chuffed.

This noise drives me mad, whatever it is - it sets off at all times of the day and night. I wish someone would chuck a brick at it. I thought the law was that no-one supposed to cause a noise nuisance after 11pm.
