Since I have to look from a far (USA), what internet sites are the best for looking at rental properties besides the forum?
What all do you have to pay with rental properties in Sheffield? Here in the US we pay rent to the landlord and utilities (electric, gas, phone, cable tv). Is there more to it over there?
Thanks, Shanmom
Artful Lodger (http://www.artfullodger.co.uk/) is a good site for finding property.
You'll have to pay rent to your landlord, utilities, and the dreaded Council Tax (read this (http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/your-city-council/council-tax/what-is-council-tax) for more details).

Thanks for the information about the council tax that helps a lot. We had no idea how much more was going to be added to our rent. Isn't there a TV tax or something to that effect?

Yes it's called a TV license and pays for the BBC:

You have to have one if you receive any sort of TV. £131.50 per year.
You can subscribe to cable/satellite for about £35 a month (eg Sky, NTL) depending what services you go for, or you can get a Freeview box which gives access to a lot of channels free, or there are 5 TV channels via the analogue system (aerial on your roof) but that's being phased out in the next few years.
