Yes it's this weekend. Sorry but God wasn't listening when he stuck the planet on a tilt... you could always move to the equator... but then you would miss the joy of the seasons.

Ah yes sorry - I forgot those who like to nit-pick, for those who don't believe in a 'God' or even gods then the universe evolved into making the planet on a tilt.

Looks like a good time to go to South America and worship the sun gods!

I was up at 6:45 this morning to go to work, it's just not normal going to work when it's still dark.

I hate this time of year. Nothing seems to lighten the low moods and exhaustion. Every year I'm determined not to let it pull me down, but it's like being dragged underwater by a strong undercurrent. Every week that passes gets noticeably more difficult. I've got the full battery of coping strategies and treatments, but it's just not enough. :(

You could try one of those electrical gadgets that imitates daylight, but they're probably expensive.

No, there isn't really anything that will help except moving to a lower latitude, spending six months in Australia or some such. All you can do is to make sure you see as much daylight as IS possible; which isn't much if you work.

Start a campaign for flexible hours, maybe? I used to start at 7.30 and finish at 3.30, which at least meant I got about an hour of daylight after work, even in mid-December.

Now that we have good summers, and international travel is relatively cheap, It would be getter to take our annual hols in mid winter.
Enjoy the summer here, then go somewhere like the caribbean, or the canaries for a few weeks mid winter.
It is hot (but not too hot) and dry, and is cheaper and less crowded than the summer months.
The only bummer is having to come back, but that applies anytime of year.
