What bores you rigid and how do you avoid it?

I'm definitely with you on painting and decorating, especially stripping paint, wallpaper, artex, tiles etc.

Also waiting for trains without reading material.

I deal with it by closing my eyes and trying to hear everything around me instead of seeing it.

I expect I get some weird looks as I sit with my eyes sut, turning my head about like stevie wonder.

Ironing.

I hate it. But unless the crinkly, unkempt look becomes acceptable I cannot avoid it!

I make it less gruesome by doing on Sunday nights with Dance Anthems blaring out on Radio 1 and dance whilst I iron.

Painting and decorating is just about the worse thing in the world for me. I would very,very happily pay someone to do it for me.

Exercising.
I like walking and cycling but gym type exercise work bores me to death. How do people do it several times a week ?

Got to be ANY sporting related activity WHATSOEVER on the TV either in our house or especially in the pub (can't turn it off in the pub)

Might start a contencious thread, actually 'does football/olympics belong in pubs on TV?'
Suspect I'm too late, a newer generation all ready takes it for granted..

I detest and avoid it at all costs. Thank god for velcro and iron on tape. I have a reputation in the family for my lack of sewing abilty and am the butt of a few jokes but I don't care one little bit ! :D

Gardening - aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhh will avoid at ALL costs to do any form of gardening.

Will happily paint and decorate (no wallpaper stripping or putting up) in exchange for gardening chores.

Football. It smells.

I'd have to say cutting the lawn which is closely followed by ironing and sanding down the paintwork.

When you get a computer virus thats so bad nothing will remove it apart from clearing your hard drive. Then sitting there for approx 6 hours loading all you software on again. Watching the loading bar go from 0% to 100% over and over again is definatly the most boring thing ever.

Good stuff, you can decorate my house in exchange for some gardening:D I have both of these to do so I will be kept busy for a while. For me it's definately decorating, can not stand it.

I hate sport on TV in pubs. For me a visit to the pub is for conversation/socialising, and TV destroys a lot of that.

I can though see the attraction of it. Much more fun than watching it alone at home, and there's a little of the atmosphere of the stadium.

Without doubt work is my most boring activity,..not for much longer though

period drama set in Cornwall made for dullards such as my sis who has both series on tape, has all the books and is a member of the Poldark Appreciation Society (concerned that one actually exists let alone she is a member!!!)

PS she knows my views on this, and my views on the country and western, warbling women collection she has on CD, I despair at the Jane McDonald CDs I really do.... :loopy:

serving 4 weeks notice on my current role....... works stopped coming in but they still make you sit there with nothing to do until the final day arrives - then you know some ******** will bring you something nasty to do on the last day just out of spite.

non-worky boring things - ironing, vacuum cleaning, mowing the lawn and darning socks... (ok, don;t actually do the last one, but it sounds boring.)

Meetings at work where all thats talked about is stats, stats , stats. Hey my team were 102% productive last week, etc.

Man, Im getting sleepy already.

Food shopping. I try to get round the supermarket in 30 seconds flat, my partner likes to spend time browsing - no need!

Funny enough, I tuned into RADIO 5 a few weeks back and there was the British Open golf commentary on there. It was very boring and IMO this minority rubbish should be shifted onto digital channels.

Staff meetings. It's possibly the only time I contemplate serial murder!!!!!!!!! And some people love them!!!!!!! What morons!!!!:mad:

Sound checks. I hate sound checks. but sometimes, not very often mind you they can be stunning but 98% of the time they are as boring and as tedious as watching astroturf grow

When I was self Employed ..I used to hate doing the books, the most boring thing in business....But it had to be done..So I forced myself..to sit there untill it was done..sorting out all those receipts...."Oh god" I used to say somebody shoot me.

Agree with you there - sorting out reciepts, tax deductions etc. Not particularly exciting!

travelling with no music, god its teadious! i have no radio in my car at the mo & its so boring i entertain myself by talking to other cars, dont laugh please, but its entertainment!

My job right now. I'm so bored that I must have read every post on here today at least three times. It's so interesting it doesn't even have a job title! I offer to wash the tea and coffee cups to add a bit of interest and variety to my day lol

I get in such a daze staring at the screen I can hardly see when it comes to driving home!

..and to make matters worse it's this damned summer job back home that's keeping me from coming back to my beloved Sheffield as soon as I'd like. Dammit!!
