So Graham Taylor is the next manager to be lined up?
Poor old Graham, nice bloke, did a brilliant job at Watford first time, out of his depth as England manager, and past his sell by date at Villa second time around.

Worthington thought about it for 10 seconds, Big Nige prefers to be an assistant at Newcastle......... no one wants to know!

Allen has promised money (how much? £50K, £5M?) from a chairman who decides on which players to keep (JP) and clearly thinks he pumped enough money in pre-season to make us secure. A man who won't tolerate opinions different to his own ete etc

The only people likely to be tempted are the desperate, the inept and the deluded.
Allen will want a "yes man" and that's the last thing we need

Ps After Saturday some players should look at themselves and ask why they couldn't do it for Sturrock!

No! Not Taylor! The end of football as we know it in Sheffield.

Warnock with the Blunts and Taylor with us. Horrific doesn't do it justice.

A thread about Graham Taylor and I'm amazed nobody has used the obvious quote about him taking over at Hillsborough....

To be honest, I dont think the board know who they want or what they want. The sacking of Paul Sturrock seemed an over-the-top, knee-jerk reaction to a bad result - rather than asking the manager if he needed any help, the chairman decides to do something which in his eyes would make him popular with Wednesday fans. Unfortunately, this action has turned around and bitten him right in the goolies.

Paul Sturrock was a huge favourite with the Wednesday fans, he had a certain charm, warmth and seemed to slowly be getting it right. The only reason we started off slow and haven't moved far up is due to injuries and bad luck. Sheffield Wednesday are a club with massive potential but not enough money and Sturrock knew this - he was doing what he could with what little he had. Some signings were a tad dodgy and not worth a look at off the training pitch, but a majority of the players he bought were gelling well showing good signs. This was proved by Saturdays match and the spirit shown even though there were all sorts of boardroom wranglings and protests going on.

Wednesdayites will be hoping that the next decision made by Dave Allen will be a much more informed and positive one that will actually go some way towards restoring abit of faith in him. I can usually see both sides af an arguement ( except when SUFC are involved LOL! ) and can sort of see why he thought Paul Sturrocks time was up, but to make such a decision after signing a new contract does make one wonder.

Sheffield Wednesday are a club with much pedigree and high standards both on and off the pitch - THAT is what makes all this tomfoolery seem out of place, We Wednesday fans are not used to open-bickering and protesting! We've grown up on flowing football, great name players, huge attendances and the occasional trip to Wembley and Europe every now and again.

All this hoo-ha is unwelcome! Lets just wait for the decision on the management and give the next man a chance, it's not a position that will be filled by someone enthusiastically - especially with the track record of managers at Hillsborough. But like another poster said - We've been through hellish times and we've survived - Madowl say's (like every other Owl) 'We want our Wednesday back'...That is paramount, but it will take someone with guts, sense and passion - most imporatantly it will take someone who can voice their opinions to the board, someone with abit of oomph about them. That is why I have always said I'd love to see Nigel Pearson there.

Finally, Good times will return to Hillsborough, it'll just take patience and time, We are ( as the old cliche goes ) a sleeping giant. Once the right teams start performing - both on the pitch and in the boardroom, every facility is there for a huge, famous team to once again rise and start to make people take notice. We'll get there - just keep supporting and believing! We are Wednesday, We aren't that far away - just dont jump on any bandwagons and see what is to come first.

Exactly, keep the positive attitude and just wait to see what happens next. It's got to be a something better. The best thing about Wednesdayites is they always look on the bright side....Do you remember when we were getting beaten 6-1 by Leeds some years ago and most of the fans on the cop were dancing the conga - cheering the next Leeds goal!?!?:P ... ( It was the great Gordon Watson penalty - dive )
