View Full Version : Some thieving people
I went into town last night with some friends and left my car there as i was having a few beers.!
My mate came up this dinner time and took me to town in his car to get it.!
On my return home..guess what..some one had STOLEN my motor scooter off my drive..Yes it had a lock on the front wheel...
It's not the cost that bothers me..although £450.00 aint cheap in anyones terms.
It was my main form of transport to work..hated taking the car..and was ideal for bobbing about for stuff...just popping to the shops etc.!
It's only a t reg..so not worth owt anyway...and it's a red devil..stolen in Shirecliffe.!!
a very peed off

What 'sort' of lock, standard metal bar D-lock, chain lock, disc brake lock etc..
Cranberry 22-10-2006, 15:42 This topic didn't really get anywhere did it? Hope you get it back anyway
He'll not get it back, it's probably already burnt out somwhere.
Soz John, but thats what will have happened, and why did you leave it on the driveway?
Haven't you got a shed or owt?

It is a chain lock with blue plastic round it to protect against the weather.
One thing John didn't mention is its a Sym.
Its totally red and has a black rear plate to house a back box.

Was the lock cut and left behind, cos if it were, there maybe finger prints left on it.
If not, its possible that its been lifted with the lock on and put in a van, as I've heard of a few that are not tied down dissapearing like this.
you shouldn't leave anything of value unattended or your askin for it to be nicked :loopy:
i have a mate selling a scotter you do need one

No i wasn't asking for it to be nicked..
It was on my drive gates where closed, steering lock on..front wheel padlocked.
There wasn't a sign in the window saying come onto my property and nick me.!
There's decent people......then there's scum.!!
Those who steal from other people are scum.!!
If you want what i have,go out and get a job,to earn the money to buy it..just like i and millions of others have to.!
Next you be telling me i deserved to have it nicked because it was on show.!!
Rant Over

I feel your pain John. Ive had my car broke into and had valuables nicked. I think what other forumers are trying to say was maybe it could of been in a garage or shed or round the back out of sight. Leaving things unattended is easily done so dont beat yourself up about it. No matter where you live, do not take for granted that you can leave something on show. There are so many chavs and lowlifes in Sheffield that people want any little thing. Its hard to own anything these days. report it to the police, you never know your luck but usually these idiots just trash it any way.
you shouldn't leave anything of value unattended or your askin for it to be nicked :loopy:He's not asking for it to be nicked, the criminal here is the b@stard who nicked it and don't lose sight of that fact. He should be able to leave it on his own drive. It never serves anyone right when they are victim of a crime.
Having said that I do know someone who had his bike nicked after chaining it to a plastic drainpipe!

thats a nice thing to say! im sure
i have to say i find your comment very well basicly stupid!
how an earth you felt that comment applies in this instance is amazing to me
i tell you what when i eventually buy a car or other motor vehicle i shall pull into my drive with it lock it turn the laser alarm system on then wrap barb wire around it followed by razor wire, i shall then go cover it up with a giant patio furniture cover i bought in the argos sale cos i spent so much on razor wire i cant afford a proper car cover! then! i will lock my gates in the above ways then i shall get my rotweiler and doberman out and tie them to the wall to stand guard i shall then go into my house three hours after i got actually got home as it took so long to secure the car
then i can sleep sound at night as i have covered up my valuables
john hun im sorry about your bike
im sure they will get what they deserve at some point xxx :)
Sorry youre scoot got robbed. The lesson here is next time buy a Thatcham approved chain and lock, and always chain it to something solid. If you havent got metal drainpipes or a metal railing, buy a ground anchor and chain it to that. Just putting the chain through the wheel is no good, it only takes 2 blokes to picck it up and put it in the back of a van. And buy a cheap alarm off Ebay, you can pick one up for about 30 quid, and fit it yourself.
Yep,just bought a thatcham lock...£75:00..so hopefully this and chained to my metal gates will hopefully stop my new scooter being nicked.!!and the gates being in view of my room wondow should help as well...

By the way..yes i did get my scooter back....trashed...was found the day after it was nicked over by collie rd and wordsworth ave.!
looked like it had been in mud bath fight...roughly £300:00 damage..
And to add insult to injury...i had to pay£105:00..from the company who had collected it...to get it back..and if i didnt...then it was £12:00perday storage charges...Even if id scrapped the bike i would still have had to pay them...If i had refused they would have taken me to court for the money.....

Raychul69 04-11-2006, 15:44 It could be the company that stole it. It could be their way of making money
New title some theiving people! haha lmao:hihi: Thats not what i would call them.
Stiffmyster 04-11-2006, 15:58 my little bro got his scooter nicked off his drive way too last week.(in southey green).yes it was covered up and yes it had a lock on it. to say people deserve to have their things nicked is rediculous and maybe you wouldnt be sayin it if it was YOUR STUFF THAT HAD BEEN STOLEN.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shame the person who nicked it didn't wrap it around a lamp post, with them still on it, eh?

How good would that be to walk round the corner and see the laid out :hihi:
Stiffmyster 04-11-2006, 16:06 thing is ,the cheeky f****rs who steal them never get any come back do they.my bro gets his scooter nicked then has to pay to cancel his insurance and all the rest of it. then jt had to pay to get his back from the recovery people.what a bloody joke!
Its true they know there will be no punishment at the end of it. Bloody stupid if you ask me.
glad to hear you got it back, but just think if you had bought the lock in the first place, you could have saved yourself summert :D
Plain Talker 09-11-2006, 21:02 glad to hear you got it back, but just think if you had bought the lock in the first place, you could have saved yourself summert :D
I disagree, suggs...
if some thieving little scumbags could keep their theiving, sticky mitts off the hard-earned, and legitimately paid-for property, belonging to decent people, JT would not have been landed with the inconvenience, and the costs of recovery.
It's not John's fault that the little swines couldn't keep their hands to themselves.
your theory doesn't hold water:- it's like saying
"Ok, so what, if some little scroate put your living room window pane through with a brick... it's your own fault, you'd have saved yourself the cost of a reglaze, if you hadn't had windows!"
