Can anybody remember Stephen from the Sheffield Telegraph some years ago. He was a very talented journalist who could easily have made a career with one of the biggie papers.
I know that he took off to India a couple of years back but have not heard anything about him for some time.
Lives in Fulwood, writes often for the Sunday Times
Thanks Tony. I'll see if I can pull any of his pieces up on the website.

Me and 2 of my friends had the pleasure of being interviewed by Steve Mc Clarence some years ago when we collectively produced a book of poetry about Kelvin Flats. He was a really genuine, down to earth, nice man who we all had a good laugh with. He produced a humourous and insightful article that I still have a copy of. We also got to know his partner/wife Claire Jenkins who was a journalist on Womens Hour on Radio 4. I went on to feature in a few programmes she was involved in, including the BBC's Millenium Archives. I have fond memories of them both as a couple of excellent jounalists and genuinely lovely people.

He wrote the best column I've seen in The Star.
He was obviously fascinated by the City and this came over in his often humourous articles. I'd like to see him write about the various developments of the past 10 years (I suspect the MacDonalds Hotel project wouldn't impress him!
I've never met Mr M. but I seem to remember Claire Jenkins from my days in the Sheffield Chapel of the NUJ - must have been about 16 years ago, now.
He is a darn good writer, though. I don't think we acknowledge good writing enough nowadays - would like to see more anthologie and such.

I have no knowledge of this subject, but I would just like to point out that most of thread reads like an obituary. If Stephen is alive and well, it might make for uncomfortable reading - all this use of the past tense.
