View Full Version : Where are you buying fireworks this year?

Following last year's bad customer service and rude treatment in the Chinese Fireworks store at the bottom of London Road I used Sparklers a bit further up the road to get my fireworks and found them to be a lot more friendlier and more helpful (as in actually spending time to make sure customers are happy instead of quickly dismissing them while making a beeline for the guy they know spends thousands with an "ah, Mr xxx so nice to see you" as he pushed us all out of the way while in the middle of serving us).

We tend to all club in each year and spend about £200-300 as a group (it costs £20 per person for admission to my garden, all proceeds go on fireworks as a group purchase:D) and I was wondering if there's anywhere people could recommend for a real bargain this year?

We prefer rockets and fireworks that band rather than ones that chuck out coloured sparks. The repeaters are fun and I like those cake things that fire a few hundred shots out.

Anyone know of anywhere that could provide a decent amount of fireworks for that price? It seems to be better to purchase single items rather than boxes as the boxes contain few rockets and banging fireworks, so a 'make your own selection' sort of thing would be prefered I think.

You don't really need to buy, there are others going off all the time so I enjoy the free show most nights

I agree with the above, hate fireworks so just watch all the others going off! Such a waste of money.

ALDI have got some good fireworks, seen em today.

Not sure on prices though but they are normally reasonably priced for other things.

good luck

JTF at Catcliffe near to Big W / Morrisons have a wide selection - you will need a card to get in though. Can't shift in there for the Christmas stuff at the moment !! Perhaps you should have been buying fireworks there in August!

No-where I hope and if people must let it be as a group that DONT set them off before Nov 5th. It's like a war zone round here the bangs are so loud.
Ps. Where do the youngsters (you have to be 18 to buy them) get them from, and where do they get the money to pay the extortionate price for them?

I half exected the anti Noevmber 5th lot here, while I appreciate your different views it would surely be better to create a post for those sort of comments?

I will look at Costco, but I presume it's a bulk buy there, not single items?

I am not anti Nov 5th, just anti the irrisponsible sellers and buyers.

That fair enough, your post did sound a little against the night No-where I hopebut you've pointed out what you meant now.

Although I love bonfire night I am totally against people using them in the street or abusing fireworks.

These appear to be selections though, or do they have a decent selection of single items this year?

Find a nice spot on a hill with a good view and watch everyone else's. The whole city lights up! I find it quite moving. :)

I Truly Agree ' Just Money Down The DrainAt the end of the day people spend money on what makes them happy and that's fair enough to me.

I know people that smoke and gamble, two things I don't do and them spending money on those things seems weird, but it makes them happy and they earn it so fair enough.

But If You Do Have Fire Works Please Think About Our [pets] Keep My Adorable Cat In House Where Its SafeMy 3 cats will be 3 floors up in the bedroom as they are every year when we have fireworks in the garden and don't seem to mind it. The dog sits downstairs with everyone else, he loves the attention and fireworks don't bother him at all.

I've found somewhere new to buy them.

We visited a place just off Ecclesall Road last night, around the corner from where the old brewery used to be, they've taken the old Rover Cars sales room.

The prices were very good and there are a load of buy one get one free offers on and to make it better still when we purchased our fireworks the guy behind the counter threw in some free fireworks and sparklers.

They were very friendly and spent time with us answering questions and making sure we got the right firworks (take not Chinese Fireworks on London Road, this is called customer service).

The place was a little quiet and we almost drove past thinking it was closed, but they were open at 7.30 pm last night (not sure what time they close at).

Anyway, this new place appears to be very good and worth a look if anyone's wanting fireworks.
