View Full Version : 'Yarn Forward' magazine out now! Hecate 21-10-2006, 14:54 Jut to say that he first issue of 'Yarn Forward' (http://yarnforwardmagazine.co.uk/) was released on October 13th. Thanks to gempud for letting me know :) . AmelieB 21-10-2006, 19:42 I got my copy at Ally Pally and have to say that Kerrie has worked her usual magic. It is a quality publication and is very different to the current UK knitting mags, interesting articles, good patterns, large clear charts and most notably for me, honest reviews. They also offer 3 different yarn choices for each pattern for different price ranges. All the patterns are exclusive to the mag and will never be book extracts or previously published patterns. Highly, highly recommended :) turra21 21-10-2006, 21:27 I got my copy at Ally Pally and have to say that Kerrie has worked her usual magic. He's not delivered yet - but having said that I've only received my Fall issue of Interweave Knits today after subscribing in August. I hope Yarn Forward doesn't take as long to get here:rolleyes: Hecate 21-10-2006, 21:29 From where did you subscribe to Interweave Knits, Turra? Was it through the American site, because I've heard from a few sources that they take ages? Lucy-Lastic 22-10-2006, 06:50 I got my copy of Yarn Forward on Friday. Ive only had a flick through but did like how they gave 3 yarn choices on cost (although suggesting acrylic for socks didnt seem like a good alternative:gag:) I really liked the top down raglan sweater idea as ther was no sewing up:D - although it only decribed a technique without giving a pattern and Im not sure Im confident in making up my own pattern:( turra21 22-10-2006, 14:33 From where did you subscribe to Interweave Knits, Turra? Was it through the American site, because I've heard from a few sources that they take ages? Through the interweave knit website. www.interweave.com. I sent them an email to ask when my copy would arrive and had a response to say it had been mailed in August but they were re-sending me a copy and if it didn't arrive within 15-20 business days let them know. And that the winter issue was about to be sent and it should reach me by the first week in November. I had no problems with their customer service. No problems with their magazine now I've got it apart from all those lovely yarns I have to trail the american sites for:rolleyes: Thank God my brother lives in Texas so if the site doesn't ship internationally then he'll order it for me and forward it on. That's brotherly love:D AmelieB 22-10-2006, 15:50 I get my IK sub from here (http://www.twistfibrecraft.co.uk/books/magazines/mags.html) - they're very good turra21 23-10-2006, 08:09 My copy of Yarn Forward arrived this morning. What a breath of fresh air for a UK magazine. I like the idea of substitute yarns with each pattern. Am I up to designing my own raglan sweater? It made me think about it. I've not been inspired like that for a while. Maybe one day! THe articles were good too - now I'm late for work ! Oops. I will definitely be subscribing. kaitef 24-10-2006, 17:24 I use P&M for all my magazine subscriptions and they've never let me down. They do Interweave Knits and will sell single issues of most magazines so you can see if you like them before having to subscribe. pmwoolcraft.co.uk Hecate 24-10-2006, 17:33 I use P&M for all my magazine subscriptions and they've never let me down. I'll add it to the recommended links section. They've got some excellent spinning stuff too, by the looks of it, as well as a selection of dyes (natural ones too) . |
