Apparently if you look south and fairly low on the horizon there is a meteor shower around Orion and you should see shooting stars every 5 - 90 seconds if you give your eyes time to adjust and aren't hit by the city glow of lights.
I missed the Perseids in August so I'm going on the balcony to have a look now.
