I had a great time for a while
Monsal Dale (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Monsal%20Dale/) About 8 - 10 miles of mostly (!) flat paths along a river and an old railway bed.

Lodge Moor and Beyond (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Lodge%20Moor%20and%20beyond/) Incorporating Wyming Brook, The Head Stone, and Redmires.

Glen Howe Park (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Glen%20Howe%20Park/) A gentle tour of Glen Howe to see the fungi.

Wortley and High Green (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Wortley%20and%20High%20Green/?action=view&current=DSCN0538.jpg&refPage=all&imgAnch=imgAnch1) With a trip to the worst cafe in the world.

Langsett (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Langsett/?action=view&current=autumnbracken.jpg) A gorgeous day by the reservoirs.

Elsecar and Wentworth (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Elsecar%20and%20Wentworth/?action=view&current=DSCN0618.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch1) A gentle tour of a grand, landscaped estate.

Dovedale (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Dovedale/?action=view&current=DSCN0656.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch1) A long drive to one of the most picturesque gorges in the Peaks.

Eyam (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/eyam/?action=view&current=DSCN0786.jpg) A sunny tour of the Plague village and surrounding hills.

Okay taxman says this is the best place for my photos. We went all over Beeley wood today (me and the boys) got absolutely coated in mud. Found some really good walking sticks which have been brought home to whittle :P

A massive bag of chestnuts was our booty and lots of fun :)

A fine way to spend 3 and a half hours
Have a look at our pics (http://s58.photobucket.com/albums/g254/fox20thc/)

Great photos, Fox! I especially like the close up ones. You will have to arrange a walk for us one day to show us Beeley Woods, and the Upper Don area generally.

Oh, and you'll have to come to a walking group pub meet too!

Castleton (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Castleton/?action=view&current=DSCN0795.jpg) A rainy day of pretty streets and festive cheer.

Buxton (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Buxton/) A short walk in the wrong direction, some pubs, some shops, the odd fancy facade.

Five Weirs and a Canal (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l115/purdyamos/Five%20Weirs%20and%20Canal/?action=view&current=DSCN0866.jpg) - A ten mile round trip through Sheffield's industrial history.

Well Suzan you're in the right place! There's a walk most weekends with the Walkers Group. This one is planned for this coming Sunday clicky (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=190817).

Everyone is welcome on the walks - they are usually good for beginners, as it's a nice steady pace, with stops along the way.

Some pictures from my walking holiday in Scotland - really great place, so remote and wild. A bit scary driving the final 30 miles or so along on single a track road to get to where I was staying.
Saw a Golden Eagle twice, but not quick enough to photo; also all the deer ran off as soon as I got near - don't really have the patience for the wildlife photographs.
Hope you enjoy these photos - see you all soon

Cool! You never know, we might have crossed paths at Braggy Park - it's one of my favourite places too, that and Swithland Woods!

Ah, I thought perhaps the cow and hawk photos were older ones. The only place I've seen Highland Cattle in Leicestershire was in that front field at Stoughton Farm Park/Farm World when it existed. I know of Twin Lakes, but I've never been.

Wooooo Hoooooooooo - I've just got back from a couple of days walking in the Yorkshire Dales - I was up early today to catch a winch into Gaping Gill - the Adrenaline rush being lowered 360 feet underground on what is basically mecano was fantastic - so much so that I nearly flew up Ingleborough afterwards, actually the wind was so strong I thought I was going to take off at times.

I'm a bit disapointed with the underground pics as all the shots with flash were just bouncing off the waterfall that plummets into the cave, so I had to resort to my night shot mode.

Anyhow the pictures from today are here (http://picasaweb.google.com/neotericwalks/GapingGillAndIngleboroughSaturday2May2008) - more to come later of yesterdays walks around the Ingleton Waterfalls.

A bit self indulgent but here are my pictures (http://picasaweb.google.com/neotericwalks/IngletonWaterfalls23May2008) of a walk from Clapham to Ingleton on the old road and then the Ingleton waterfalls. Stayed at the very welcoming New Inn pub in Clapham which has great food and some really good beers.

Some more self indulgence - here are my photos (http://picasaweb.google.com/neotericwalks/Tryfan28June2008TopTenWalk) from my trip to Wales this weekend to climb - and I mean rock climb/scramble up Tryfan.

I promised the Sheffield Uni student I'd post pictures of his leaps from Adam to Eve on the summit of Tryfan.

Pity by that time my legs were too tired to do any of that sort of gymnastics, but I'm going back in September.
