View Full Version : Next Wednesday manager
BasilRathbon 20-10-2006, 15:36 Come on, let's have some idle speculation....
I'd suggest Nigel Pearson, ex-Wednesday player and, till recently, on the coaching staff at WBA. Available, cheap and with Wednesday connections - what more could they want?
happyhippy 20-10-2006, 15:41 Odds-on Megson or Worthington.
bladesufc1 20-10-2006, 15:56 GOD is the only person who can them out of the bottom half of the championship!!!

It's time you changed your forum name to "Owlswfc1" since you spend so much time worrying about what the Owls are up to.

nah, warnock won't go there:hihi:
CHAIRBOY 22-10-2006, 20:09 I read that Burnley was approached about Steve Cotterill but The Clarets turned down the approach. Good to see Wednesday moving out of the circle of former players for their short-list. However, Allen said he wanted to see attractive football but I've seen Burnley, under Cotterill, playing a 4-5-1 formation at home!
Already a thread on this here.

NEKRO138 23-10-2006, 13:00 It'll be Megson or Worthington.
Def not Pearson - he's got a job at Newcastle now.

Worthington has already said he doesn't want the job.
I don't blame him.
NEKRO138 23-10-2006, 13:21 I'll do it. I was great on Champ Manager 2.

no it's like big brother, i like to see how the other half live!!!:hihi:
saw in paper today, graham taylor may be interested in the job:help:
happyhippy 23-10-2006, 14:01 I'll do it. I was great on Champ Manager 2.
I was their manager once on Champ 4. I gave away all the first team and reserves, except the keepers. I played the under 18's out of position, in a 4-2-4 formation, with 4 goalkeepers up front, and put the smallest player in what was left of the squad in the net.
35 league matches before they gave me the boot, conceding an average of 6-7 goals a match; the three goals scored were all own goals. 35 of the best virtual football moments ever ......
slimsid2000 23-10-2006, 14:57 Her majesty the Queen would make a good job of it but I doubt the Wednesday board will even bother to ask her.

Feeble. I picked a club I don't like and got them into twenty-five billion pounds' worth of debt before I got fired. :hihi:
carcrash 23-10-2006, 15:32 Graham Taylor has been linked to the job.
Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly targeting former England manager Graham Taylor to take over the managerial hotseat at Hillsborough.
The 62-year-old has been out of the management game for three years after leaving Aston Villa, but is thought to be looking for a return and is set to be handed an interview by the Owls following Paul Sturrock's dismissal last week.
Taylor's chances of securing the job have improved over the weekend as Burnley boss Steve Cotterill, despite admitting being flattered by the interest, is staying at Turf Moor.
Meanwhile, Nigel Pearson has accepted a coaching role at Newcastle United and former Norwich City boss Nigel Worthington ruled himself out of the running.
Its not a manager u need, its the players..
I'll do it. I was great on Champ Manager 2.
either way, you'd probably do a better job in managing than how its gone already.

.
Grahams got standards you know!! Hes better off entering his 'the match' team to the championship, and scrap wednesday

Arise, Sir Allen ........ :hihi:
CHAIRBOY 24-10-2006, 17:51 I gather Wednesday's short-list has been narrowed to three - Bryan Robson, Garry Megson and Graham Turner. What a choice? Taylor would be my choice of those but it hardly fills one with elation.
I think Robson is a joke, having to be bolstered at Middlesbrough by Venables and subsequent disasters at Bradford and The Baggies.
Agent Gypo 25-10-2006, 09:42 The names I've heard linked have been;
Alan Curbishley - no chance in hell you'll get him
Graham Taylor - doubt you could afford him
Nigel Worthington - has ruled himself out of the running I believe
Gary Megson - would you really want him?
Nigel Pearson - I think he's on his way to something better
CHAIRBOY 25-10-2006, 17:47 Laws of Scunthorpe has been interviewed. It smacks of the England appointment because it seems that whoever is appointed, they weren't the first choice!
Le_Rosbif 26-10-2006, 11:44 Tommy Tippee has recently been touted after Dave Richards saw his name engraved on lots of cups.
CHAIRBOY 27-10-2006, 07:43 I gather that Allen has dashed off to Belgium in his quest for a manager. Is this the high-profile target that's been mentioned? Gilles De Bilde hasn't gone into management has he?
seoulowl 28-10-2006, 16:19 i didnt go to the match today but i think we should take our time on the new appointment as macauley is doing fine isnt he. certainly sounds like we are playing some good stuff and actually attacking teams. Belgium!!! now if we wanted some chocolates then ok....but a football manager......?? of the current managers that i think we could realistically get to hillsboro i reckon mike newell would be worth interviewing
56cheffy 28-10-2006, 22:19 The names I've heard linked have been;
Alan Curbishley - no chance in hell you'll get him
Correct...cos he'll be at the Lane before Christmas!
donuticus 28-10-2006, 22:34 As a villa fan I would like this opportunity to aquire, at a knock down price a manager whose name begins O' something. Obviously I mean O'Leary because O'Neill is mine I tell ya mine.
BasilRathbon 01-11-2006, 10:33 Heard a rumour that Alan Shearer was offered the job but turned it down as he's waiting for Roeder to get the push at Newcastle. Shouldn't be too long.....
HarryFlint 06-11-2006, 17:46 Well, Brian Laws it is.
Disappointed with this appointment, I think he will sadly be another manager who will be seen the door after <12 months.
How is he better than Sturrock? And yeah Allen, of course he's proven himself at Championshi level.
I wish him all the best and I will be the first to applaud him at his home debut, but the decision to appoint him is appalling.
ALLEN OUT
SACK THE BOARD
Brian Laws = not afraid to punch one of his own players if they don't perform.
Brian's hand will be a crumpled mess this time next year.
