Now this may seem a strange subject but how can I find out details of a murder?

When I moved into my house about 10 years ago, my neighbours took great delight in telling me that someone had been murdered here!! Don't get me wrong, it doesn't bother me and I'm not one of these who worries about 'ghosts' etc. I am merely curious as to when it was and what happened.

As far as I know, it was about 20 years ago. The house was then owned by the council and was used for temporary accommodation. A Somalian family lived here and there were a few brothers. So I have been told, one of the brothers killed another one in the bath by stabbing him and chopped off his hands.

Any ideas anyone?

Does the Star have an archive? If so the archivist may know - failing that the central library has newspaper archives.

Have you tried the public library? They might have old newspapers you could check for deatails. In any event they could give you adviace about how to get theinfo you want.

Your could try the councils archives on shoreham street near the Red Tape Studios.

The LOCAL STUDIES archive in the central library on the 2nd floor has all sheffield newspapers dating back about 100 years, now all on microfiche, which is a bit fiddly, but if you know a rought date you can easily scroll thro a whole week of Sheffield Stars or the other one in a few minutes.
