Just wanted to mention this web site to other writers. www.lulu.com. It’s a service that allows users to self publish, sell and promote their own books at a decent price. To put it simply, you upload a .doc file choose a cover layout (or design one yourself) and set you price.

If you are aware of any, please post links to any other sites that do this kind of thing.

I've set an account up on this site because I'm wanting to get a couple of my technical books back in to circulation - I might also use it to get a collection of my short stories out soemtime next year.

Looks quite straight forward to use compared to some. Once I start doing things with it 'in earnest' I'll report back.

If you have a computer then you have all you need. People have written books whilst in Soviet Labour camps, memorising teh words, or in Nazi Concentration Camps, on bits of toilet paper, or in Prisoner of War camps. No cash required. :)

Just sit at teh computer, run up Notepad or Wordpad, and basically say 'I am not leaving here until I have written a few sentences of something creative.

That's where it all starts. Welcome to the adventure. :)

Or you could have your own Web Site...
A couple of quid a year to register your domain name,
50 pence a week to have it hosted,
That's not even half a pint a week you'd have to give up.
