View Full Version : Tyre removal, refit and balance - Where in Hillsborough?
AlquarUK 19-10-2006, 11:21 I buy, trade, swap and sell old classic alloy wheels as a hobby so regulary buy wheels with old tyres that need removing or trade some that need tyres fittin onto with balancing. I'm having trouble finding somewhere that will do me this on the cheap in hillsborough. I want somewhere reliable that will do it for not much but know I'm going to be giving them ongoing business from time to time.
Most places I've asked want £12.50 or something equally ridiculous per wheel.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I don't know anywhere but i would expect to pay £10 per wheel. I'm from Preston, and study in Sheffield, and in Preston it is £10 almost anywhere you go.
never wrong 19-10-2006, 11:27 have you tried GRAHAMS ON LEPPING LANE

muddywolf 19-10-2006, 15:47 I like ATS euromaster near Hallam FM, they seem a great bunch and I have never been quoted or charged what I consider to be expensive.

Hawleys are great! Hard to find though on Holme Lane, you have to look really hard for the archway to drive through!
I agree, but at least there's room to park and you can get in/out unlike the vets along there! (unless there's a secret in/out for there, and me being a newbie hasn't yet found it..lol)
Hi there,
give Chippy a ring on the number in my signature and ask him about this. A lot of quality car dealers use Autodynamics because of the quality of machinery used and the care taken as we specialise in Alloy wheels.

I'll 'third' the Hawleys reccomendation - used them a couple of times very reasonable prices.

it was to fix a puncture, and balance it.
Bikertec 24-10-2006, 13:58 it was to fix a puncture, and balance it.I went to kwick thingy (you know who I mean) and was told it was illegal to have a puncture fixed now, seeing it was a nearly new tire I went elsewhere to have it done.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Why don't you buy a machine and do it yourself. This one will pay for itself after about 70 tyres or second hand on ebay for less. http://www.tyrebaydirect.com/
Do you know anyone who blasts and powder coats alloys?
detectorist 25-10-2006, 16:21 Hawleys on Holme lane. I cant fault em!!
Not near Hillsborough, but may be of use to others:
Bottom of City road (right at the bottom) have charged me £9-10 per wheel fairly recently. And these being 16x225's. Thats inc balancing, valve, disposal.
Sharrow Vale road (nr Hunters bar, back street behing Eccy road) have been cheaper traditionally but are now out of my way.
Chain places, kwick fit, Charlie Browns wont touch me when they realise I've already bought tyres off the internet and I get the impression most of these places will discount if you are doing all 4 and are buying the tyres from them.... annoying but hey.
