There is a racist murder trial on at the moment the victim was a schoolboy called kriss donald
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/5400138.stm

this poor lad was kidnapped from the streets of Glasgow in March 2004, taken on a 200 mile journey around central Scotland, tortured and finally killed in a manner of unimaginable horror by a Pakistani Muslim gang.

Whilst I hope the guilty get what they deserve, what you've just said is incorrect, Craig. Firstly, they men have only been charged, not found guilty, so you're speculating.

Secondly..
The charge against the three men also alleges that the offence was racially aggravated.
Racially aggravated is different to racially motivated, so whatever the motivation behind the vicious assault, it wasn't 'because he was white'.

Also, where did you get the "Pakistani gang" bit from, the BNP website pehaps?? It's not mentioned in the article you link to.

As far as I understand it, 'Racially Motivated' describes the crime and 'Racially Aggravated' is a legal term which allows for increased sentancing, should the crime be proven to be 'racially motivated'. In other words, allegedly, the boy was murdered because he was white and the defendants will be charged with 'Racially Aggravated' crimes because the attack was 'Racially Motivated'.

Some people read between the lines and see plenty, others read bertween the lines and see nothing. The implication here is that at least 5 took part and three of them had names of Pakistani origin. Draw whatever conclusions you like.

There have also been accusations that the British National Party (BNP) have sought to exploit the case.

Of course the BNP are exploiting the case, it's what they do. On the other hand maybe this time they have a point?

From the same article:
"The BNP had sought to highlight the lack of response by authorities to concerns the party raised two years earlier of rising racial tensions and were also concerned that Strathclyde police had felt pressured to abandon an investigation into Asian gangs in the area for fear of offending ethnic minorities."

and:
"The BBC ceased to report the Kriss Donald murder on their nationwide broadcasts after the initial few days, and were criticised for not continuing to report the case prominently once it was established that he had been murdered in a racially motivated attack[citation needed]. They had previously reported on the case while speculating that the crime may have been gang related."

Why do people seem so shocked when black or Asian youths commit race crimes?

There are just as many racist idiots amongst those quaters as amongst ours.

The difference between the murder of Mr Lawrence and this case as far as the media goes is quite amazing, draw your own conclusions as to why that is the case.

I suppose the Stephen Lawrence and Anthony Walker cases were not exploited by anybody?
The Kriss Donald case was particularly horrific and has received hardly any national publicity.

Maybe the lack of coverage (if any) is because it happened in Scotland. It was certainly the main news item all last week when I was in Edinburgh.

Mod note:

We're closing this thread for 2 reasons.

1. The motivation of the OP is political.
2. There is already a thread for discussion of the BNP.

Closing.
