Hi, me and a friend wish to sign up for a student membership or the likes at Greens gym. We went today but it seemed very expensive, 25quid to sign up, and 25 quid for a simple key fob etc etc Just wondered if anybody had any advice about the gym, any vouchers or offers to get the membership cheaper... or if they could recommend any better gyms in the area. Not student gym's, they suck..:rant:

hi - i use greens and it is really good but yes it is expensive. I don't know whether its worth you waiting around for them to do some special offers. I think when I joined (not as a student though) the key fob was a tenner and my joining fee was free as part of the offer. If not, Virgin Active is supposed to be good and they may be worth a try.

It's a rip off there's a place in town near wetherspoon's opposite John Lewis and another on the Moor that offer 3 months fro £59 it's also using a selling point of 'the only gym that gives you a personal trainer every time you visit.' Seems pretty good value, my friend goes and seems to like it.
