You mustn't have been for while. I went 2 weeks ago and it was shiite - ordered a curry which said, 'cooked in very hot spices'- it was like a bhuna. Totally bland and boring.

On the other hand, the poppadoms/pickle were ace....crap lager aswell - no Kingfisher/Cobra, just Carling/Stella.

The best curry houses in Sheffield at the moment are either Jumeirah ( London Road ), Kebabish ( Wicker ) or Ayesha's ( Eccy Road ).

if u ask any of the pakistani community, the best food (and worse service) is The mangala in spital.

It is unique in that the food is authentic

Service is alright in there!

Also try Gulshan on the Wicker - not been for a while, but was excellent last time I went

mangla has not go the edge

Had an stupidly teeth aching ly hot hot bhuna swiming in parm oil.

apart from to silly heat of the dish there was very little taste, no spicness, could not taste corriander.

Very poor, sort of overlooked this on poor dish in 4 side of the mangla before when it was so cheap but its prices have gone up and its not VFM anymore. Places like jaflong in crookes and momtaz do food better for the simlar low price.

and of course ashokas and ayeshas higher price but are VFM due to quality.

jumria was good , had a good menu , chicken on the bone dishes where good.

The Flouch Balti House at Hazlehead S36 is of the highest quality and excellence. Great if you live in the north of sheffield.
If going, book as they can get really busy.
You would have to go by car as it is in the middle of nowhere. But it is really worth travelling to.
Huge carpark.
My fiance does a 20 mile round trip nearly every weekend to fetch us a takeaway!
As a second choice, I would go to Ayesha's on Ecclesall Rd.. Shabaz, the owner will make you feel very welcome and the food is really excellent. (shaslick kebab, yum, yum!)

7 Spices is a winner for me. Bordering on tacky interior wise but when you're settled, it adds to the experience. Butlers balti for the mushroom rice tho - great Chicken Badam-Passanda too. Really - try it.
