View Full Version : Fishing in Loxley - Where Abouts Exactly?
S8 Blade 17-10-2006, 15:00 Anyone know exactly where abouts it is? Does it lead into Dam Flask or Ladybower?
(Asking on behalf of step-dad, hence the lack of info lol)
Cheers, all
Loxley Fisheries is about halfway between the Admiral Rodney and Dam Flask on the Loxley Road (left hand side) ; it's signposted. It's fed by a stream that originates in Dam Flask I believe and is a well stocked and managed day ticket water.
Bloomdido 17-10-2006, 15:22 I used to fish a pond in this bloke's garden somewhere in Loxley many years ago. He was a scrapman or something. He had geese patrolling and the fish would swim in shoals just under the surface taunting us. It was at the bottom of a run of ponds I recall. Anyone recall it?
I always thought it was Marshalls pond between the Rodney and Dam Flask,
Is Loxley fishery not the one before the Rodney on the left hand side ? If not, what is that one called.
Was never any good with names - Still not.

Marshalls is now called Loxley Fisheries.
S8 Blade 17-10-2006, 15:46 Thanks for that.. if anyone can get me a link for the exact location on multimap/streetmap/google earth I'd really appreciate it! Think we found it on google earth but as we don't know that area we're not too sure!

Cheers Halibut. That's set me right. :)
UnkleBob 17-10-2006, 19:32 there's also Mill pond, a lovely little place a little bit downstream near the admiral rodney pub, go down by the side of the cemetary. it's nicer in my opinion than marshalls/loxley and has some lovely roach on caster or carp on the usual pellets etc. I'd have a look for this lake if i were you!
near the wisewwood pub.
There's a Fishing Club at the triangular body of water on this link:

i used to fish marshalls years ago,but you had to book your day ticket as there were only about 16 pegs, some good tench in the warmer weather on sweet corn
Supertattoo 11-03-2007, 09:19 Last time i went looking for the place in question (Loxley Fisheries), all i could find was a small place that was full of weed. As you turn left down the little lane off Loxley Rd, you park somewhere near a works of some kind and the little pond is up a small bank on your right?? Is this correct? I think Hepworth Refractories used to be round the back in the yard.:help:
well for your imformation Supertattoo it is not full of weed idiot it has 5 or 6 lily pads and thats it . Fantastic pond though good barbel on meat and hemp
paulwhiteley 14-08-2010, 14:58 Has anyone fished Loxley Fisheries lately I am planning a few visits in the coming weeks and am desperate to hook into a good barbel on pole or rod.
charliewag 14-08-2010, 17:59 i think the pond bloomdido mentioned maybe hamer's pond at the bottom of rowell lane. in the late 70's-early 80's the company i worked for rented the pond off the hamers. when the father died the son wanted to double the rent and was refused point blank. the next time we went to fish all the fish had been removed and the pond drained! to my knowledge it's still an overgrown hole in the ground.

Have a wonder down, it's not a million miles from Wincobank and I'm sure the bailiff will give you some advice. If your "desperate to hook into a good barbel on pole or rod" get yourself down to the Trent but don't take your pole, take a good rod with a 2lb test curve.
paulwhiteley 14-08-2010, 21:37 Yeah right thanks for that
