Hi,
I need to have damp proofing carried out throughout my house, in Walkley, as well as some of the timbers replaced.
Am new to the area so was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of good damp and timber specialists?
Would be grateful for any help.

The two I've used in the past have been: Multiskill, who came from somewhere down Sharrow way I think, though I haven't seen any of their adverts for a long time so I've no idea if they're still going; and Higginbottom and Lascelles who come from out Chapeltown way if I remember rightly. They both seemed to do a reasonable job for me anyway.

I wouldnt recomend Higginbottom and Lascelles at all, unreliable and dont turn up when they're supposed to. They were supposed to carrying out some damp proofing to my house, a guy came out surveyed said it would be "x" amount, booked a date about a months in advance for them to carry out the work, and booked the day of work.

On the day they never showed up, but got a phone call at 2:30pm "oh sorry we've been held up on another job we'll come tomorrow" Phones up work to book another day off work, and wait for it yes, they never showed up the second day, no phone call this time" So all in all I lost 2 days holiday for nothing. Phoned up Higginbottom and Lascelles to ask what the hecks goin on, and asked to speak to Mr Higginbottom himself and he refused to speak to me.

So sorry I cant recommend these people. :(

Ive called timberwise recently and they told me they dont do free quotes any more.

Although Timberwise may not offer free quotations they are one of the best qualified and most respected damp proofing companies in the South Yorkshire area - they are BWPDA and PCA registered which gives peace of mind. The quality of the work is also to a high standard - check out the client testimonials on their website.

i'll 2nd that. DO NOT USE Higginbottom and Lascelles. They quoted me for some damp proofing work.

Came out and did the work but not the amount of work quoted.
They then had the gall to send me reminders for the following 6 MONTHS to pay my estimate fee. Which i had already paid them!. Not very professional at all. SO AVOID.
