View Full Version : What is youre favourite ad ever marc1990 13-10-2006, 21:23 discuss///// Jabberwocky 13-10-2006, 21:25 The Revels one, where theyre playing Russian roulette with them. Sad I know, but it has me in tucks. Rich 13-10-2006, 21:53 Some of the old ads are definitely best, particular faves include: Green Cross Code ads from the 70s starring David "Darth Vader" Prowse. Smash - Instant mashed potato ads with those robots. Hecate 13-10-2006, 21:55 I rather like the Guiness 'evolution in reverse' ad. summer1955 14-10-2006, 07:44 favourite ad ever was the instant mash potatoes with the aliens. they peel them with their metal knifes boil them for 20 minutes then smash them to bits. my hubby thought it was just great that when he started on the cb his handle was instant mash. Lestat 14-10-2006, 13:15 I like the IRN BRU & the WKD ads. Darbees 14-10-2006, 13:18 Not specific favourite but good ad was the Peugeot one where the Indian guy used his improvisational skills to turn his old one into a new 206 (I think) and then drove his battered car round looking proudly out of the window with stereo on loud. pinklady 14-10-2006, 14:11 Its got to be this one (http://www.visit4info.com/details.cfm?adid=24268):hihi: ________ Jaguar Xjr Sportscars Specifications (http://www.ford-wiki.com/wiki/Jaguar_XJR_Sportscars) sheffdan 14-10-2006, 15:20 Th mission impossible en with the squirrel :D Think it was for Carling? Darbees 14-10-2006, 15:26 There was a scandal once where Ian Botham was accused of smoking marijuana and he was on the front pages of various papers with this shocking news. Inside there was a full page ad of him smoking a cigar with the caption "Happiness is a cigar called Hamlet". princessL83 14-10-2006, 15:29 I liked the carling one ages ago- when that guy flashed and said...... .... "got any leaches for this" - can anyone remember it? chuckle chuckle chuckling to myself donuticus 14-10-2006, 15:52 This one. No CGI all practical, and filmed in full and correctly on the third attempt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xCfCumACbk princessL83 14-10-2006, 15:59 thats awesome! Mod_Man 14-10-2006, 16:08 This one. No CGI all practical, and filmed in full and correctly on the third attempt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xCfCumACbk Have to agree with you on that one. You can almost feel the hardwork that has gone into it. PrincessSam 15-10-2006, 13:39 I love this advert for activia, I think it was on about 4 years ago and it used to make me laugh so much...still does actualy, hehe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u14d0euO2c Unknown 15-10-2006, 16:54 This one. No CGI all practical, and filmed in full and correctly on the third attempt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xCfCumACbk Are you sure it took only three attempts? It was one of the top on the '100 top adverts' (woteva it was called) program and they said it took thousands of attemps. cressida 23-11-2006, 11:24 the babies floating on leaves Caz1 24-11-2006, 21:28 I like the one for wrigleys airwaves? Where the alien gets squashed on the tube, plays bingo etc and then decides not to stay and runs back into the spaceships..i love that one. Brunette 24-11-2006, 21:38 Nobody but me ever remembers it but it was for Buttercup syrup, and the guy from Shaun of the Dead was in it, and he walked into a bridge pretending to be off work sick while talking to his boss on the phone. Used to crack me up!! Ousetunes 25-11-2006, 10:30 There was a highly memorable Keep Britain Tidy advert shown in the mid-1970s which showed an entire area covered in refuse. What made it so effective was that it looked like Hillsborough Corner with the old style traffic lights which in the advert was the only sense of motion (they were on red but still working. There was no sign of human life). The whole crossroads area was covered in rubbish and if you think about it, it's not so different nowadays is it! In this day of 'drinkaware', Always Read The Label, May Contain Nuts, Contains Innuendo (I kid you not) and nannyisms galore, I'm surprised this advert hasn't been given an airing or two. I for one would love to see it again. okka north 25-11-2006, 13:36 Ipod ad with U2 BBC ad with the Perfect Day song Dirtydog 25-11-2006, 13:51 This X box one has my vote http://www2.sumo.tv/watch.php?video=74040 although Pink Ladys' choice is a good one. |
