Sometimes I listen to LBC 97.3 (www.lbc.co.uk ) in the mornings (Nick Ferrari), or occasionally Hallam FM (www.hallamfm.co.uk) for that guy on Suday evenings, haven't listened to it for a few weeks now.

XFM - as well as playing decent tunes on air you can listen to a lot of albums and live stuff.
Charlotte Hatherley's debut album (http://www.xfm.co.uk/CustomFormProcess.asp?title=)
One of the Mods here, Phanerothyme, has his own online radio station, called Phan FM (http://tess.fast-serv.com:8878/)
He plays a wide variety of tunes to suit most tastes, although it does help to like Frank Zappa at least a bit
Big ups to teh Mods!

Cheers for the boost Rich!
Phan fm is unreliable at best I fear, even my sig is often wrong as to its online status.
As for liking Frank Zappa, well, if you listen to Phan FM long enough, you will hear a Zappa tune you like, even if you only like it because it is 3 and half seconds long.
Martin_Dust once pointed me to a mad scotsman dj playin some pretty insane music, he might care to reprise the url for us?

Club977, best 80's station EVER.
go to www.shoutcast.com for some fantastic radio stations.
Club977 is cheese-city. But good for reminding yourself how bad the 80s really were
Shoutcast requires Winamp (http://www.winamp.com) to play the broadcasts. A lot of small genre-specific "independant" broadcasters out there. And if you use winamp 2 and the shoutcast DNAS plugins it's easy to follow the instructions and set up your own live broadcast. (Remember folks, broadcasting copyright work without consent is an offence!!)

Has anyone set up a legal web radio station? It's a project i'm thinking of getting the kids to do at school.
We have all the technical equipment, a 4Mb broadband line and two recording studios, but it's the copyright issue i'm interested in.

Well, as far as I am concerned, shoutcasting is totally legit if, like me, you are playing your music to a handful of other people, in the same way you would to a handful of people in your living room.
I sometimes think the record companies would prefer it if we listened to music on headphones, in case other people were listening who had not paid the licence fee.....
