View Full Version : Experience with Reeds Rains ? AJCrowley 09-08-2004, 12:00 anyone bought through them before ? any good ? Caronp 16-08-2004, 10:32 I have had good and bad stories from my clients. Speedy_Jim 16-08-2004, 10:44 I sold a flat through them. Found them to be pretty efficient, the details were nicely prepared, and have no complaints. When I was looking for a house they were very proactive - would send me details of new properties and seemed genuinely interesting in finding a suitable house. That was about 3 years ago - if their service is like it was then, I'd recommend 'em Lickable 17-08-2004, 09:19 They kept my bond 1 month longer than they should... :( Think of the intrest if they do that to everyone!!! DannyBoy 18-08-2004, 23:42 We found RR very disappointing when trying to sell 2 years ago. From what I remember, the description of our house was totally unflattering and I had to rewrite it for them and fax them the new version for the following week's Property Guide. We had viewers who obviously couldn't afford the place and were just having a gawp. We also got families with 3 pre-teen kids, who were understandably underwhelmed by the prospect of a terrace with a small-ish garden. This was after we'd agreed with RR that "young professionals" and first-time buyers were the target audience. They also failed to pass on information about appointments. We eventually got 2 bids, very slightly over the AP, when similar houses were going for much more. We lost out on the house we were bidding for, also on with RR, and they gave us no help whatsoever with that process. They then kept hassling us to close the deal on our house and go into rented. They also sent us details of houses which turned out to be either in the wrong area (worse school catchment) or just wrong in other ways. When they rang for feedback, you could sense the glowering resentment on the other end of the line. We took our house off the market after 3 weeks, unsold. Went with Blundells for our (successful) move this year and found them much better - they sold our Lower Walkley terrace for more than 30% over the AP in just under 2 weeks. Lucy_Green 06-09-2004, 18:55 I am in the process of buying a house through Reeds Rains and I have to say I have been very impressed. In some instances they have been a little over zealous if anything!!! I have bought through Blundells as well and whilst I didn't have any problems with the purchase - they were uninterested and lazy - so compared to them - Reeds Rains have been fab!!!! Oh I wish I hadn't seen this, I shall be dealing with Blundells over the next few days :gag: Lucy_Green 07-09-2004, 15:38 If you think what I wrote was bad you should read the Blundells (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11082) thread. Caronp 07-09-2004, 16:44 Why are you using estate agents ?you DO NOT NEED THEM ANYMORE. D2J 07-09-2004, 16:46 Im still renting so I have no choice.. Lucy_Green 07-09-2004, 17:43 Deejay You don't have to use estate agents for renting. I am a private landlord and I don't use them!!! Check out the posts on this website. D2J 07-09-2004, 18:02 I know, I meant I have no choice at present, Im moving from a private landlord into a house with 3 mates.. The house Im moving into is rented out by a landlord to an Agent (they do all the work for him etc..). Sorry for any confusion Craig :) skyfitsboy 10-09-2004, 14:50 Avoid Reeds Rains Lettings at all costs!! Their staff at the Manchester lettings centre who control all the Sheffield lettings are truly shocking! Reeds Rains took 2 months rent out of my account in error by direct debit leaving me with no money in my account and when I tried to resolve it with them it was a nightmare, totally unhelpful, unintrested, honestly I have never spoken to such rude and arrogant people in all my life, felt so strongly about it I sent a five page complaint letter to the lettings centre manager and contacted my Landlord direct to let him know how bad they are. Eventuallly 7 weeks later I got an apology letter. I can't stress enough - avoid Reeds Rains! Bourne 16-09-2004, 19:11 Bought from Reed Rains Chapeltown, good efficient service. They will give you a refund under the Direct Debit Guarantee and claim it back from the beneficiary. You may need to persuade your bank that they are allowed to do this, and you may need to speak to several people before you find someone who knows how to do it, but you will get a refund this way. skyfitsboy 17-09-2004, 10:50 Originally posted by Andy: If this happens again to you, or happens to anyone else, go to your bank. I eventually convinced my bank that they could get my money baack through a Direct Debit Guarantee, but this process was a complete nightmare. Barclays was trying to palm me off with - no such policy exists statement and then when I gave them a copy of the Banking Code Law and highlighted the Direct Debit Guarantee none of the staff in the branch knew how to process it and passed me onto their regional customer advice line who didn't know either so passed me back to the branch so then passed me back their advice line, argh! No one would take responsibility so I just flipped in the bank and demanded to see the bank manager, who then get things sorted straight away. Why do banks have such a big problem with this, its disgusting! |
