Anyone out there know how Effingham Road used to look
I`m based there at A C dismantlers and would love to find out the history of this and other buildings in the area.

the firm i work for is situated on an old school, effingham road runs behind our firm on the opersite side of the river, the firm is at salmon pastures rignt next to the river behind the now shut down petrol station. i could ask one of my work collegues what it was like on E Road as he went to the school that our firm is now sat on but i'll have to post tomorrow as he dosent come in today!

Have you seen the memorial (set in the wall, of what used to be Cocker Bros.) to the 29 men, women and children killed in the German Zeppelin raid on Sheffield, in September 1916.

Yes, thats the one.

I can remember, as a kid in the late 60's, they would hold a sevice on rememberance day (I'm guessing) with the salvation army and singing. Most of the road would be blocked with the crowd of people, how times have changed.

I remember seeing some of the names of the casualties, in a book somewhere. I'll try to get the brain into gear this week and find where I saw them.
