View Full Version : Stretching Piercings
Rusted Root 08-08-2004, 14:53 Anyone know a good place to get earlobes stretched? I don't really know much about the whole process although I heard it was quite risky.
If any of you guys have any experiences you'd like to share please tell me. I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks :D
I had my piercing stretched at Van Shaicks and they're good enough, but I had my jewellery replaced at Feline just off Ecclesall Rd and I think I'll be going there from now on. Just felt more comfortable there.
A pal of mine wants to get her tongue pierced next weekend so I said I'd go with her and get mine done too....at Feline. You only live once don't ya. Hehe...plus it might stop me eating so much crap for a while. :D
FairyNormal 08-08-2004, 15:07 Mmmmmmmm a diet of yoghurt, mashed potato and soup!! I remember those days well!!
Yeh i know. Lol Soup and yoghurt is ok though, altho not at the same time. Ew!
Tender talking for a while.
FairyNormal 08-08-2004, 15:17 Two days after I had my tongue pierced I had to chair a meeting at work. I couldn't talk properly and kept dribbling 'cos it was so hard to swallow! They took the micky good and proper!! It was fine after less than a week and I have never had any problems.
Plenty of ice cream for that tongue Pauly...takes the swelling down a treat. Just not the stuff with chunks of chocolate in...
Anyway, stretching earlobes. I did mine myself, wasnt hard, buy yourself jewellry of the appropriate size, and a pair of knitting needles to match. Cut the end of the knitting needle, file off any sharp edges to make a taper. Liberally apply your choice of lubricant, insert into the hole you want stretched, and push. Not too hard. If it hurts, its not ready to be stretched. Wait a week or so and try again. Once its through, follow it with the jewellry. Give it a month or so before you try and go any bigger. And, above all, keep it clean. Stretched lobes have a tendency to stink a bit. Im guessing youve just got standard 1.6mm rings/studs in now, so you want to be starting at 2mm, then 2.4mm, then 3.2mm, then 4mm, 5mm, 6mm etc etc. Using this method I managed to get my lobes to 22mm without too much fuss, although I only wear 16mm plugs in them now.
Need any more info, PM me.
Sloppy diet that sounds like lol
Baby food! ;-)
Hehe, sloppy n lots of icey stuff. Gives me an excuse to eat icepops again. Good idea to do this in Summer I think. :D
Good way of keeping cool! I will have to agree with you on that one!
kittykat 08-08-2004, 19:26 Why on earth would you want massive earlobes? Do you not think you will look a bit odd. I certainly wouldnt want to cross someone like that in a dark alley.
How judgemental... your post implies that somebody with stretched ears is somebody to be afraid of. And your basis for that is?
kittykat 08-08-2004, 19:38 My basis for this is that someone who chooses to stretch ones earlobe for fun is obviously quite odd (to me anyway as it isnt something id do) and, as many people, i tend to fear those i dont understand in any way.
dragonsoup 08-08-2004, 19:45 Next time I see or phone my Dutch freind Marek Ill ask him about ear piercing, his lobe is about 2 inch across looks like one of them tribespeople in the rainforest makes me badly looking at it.

Yeah, it's just like tongue or genital piercing, or that god awful tongue splitting! I personally can't see the point, it's not like you're being different because everyones had it done.
Rusted Root 08-08-2004, 20:52 God next time I'll put "I ain't asking for your opinions." I think you guys look stupid with your designer label clothing and your pencil straight GHD'd locks buddy! But I don't go on about it.
Al, you are just implying that there is no point in trying to be different so maybe everyone who wants to be different should either give up and die or just follow the crowd. Bulldoody to me.
If I want to be critisized every step of the way I'll talk to my mom.
Anyway back to the topic: can you actually get lobes stretched by a trained professional? I doubt my ability to do things like this safely to myself. Plus all the horror stories I've heard scare the heck outta me!
Well everyone's entitled to an opinion. Doesn't mean it's wrong or right and it's a person's right to do what they want to their own body and for whatever reason.
So yeh, back to topic. Soz Rooty, just wanted to put my opinion forward. :D Try Feline or Van Schaiks, they might be able to give u some advice or even do it for ya.
Rusted Root 08-08-2004, 21:54 Hmm yeah I may have overeacted slightly there. Its just the perpose of this thread was actually to find out other people's experiences not about their opinions. I just sometimes find it hard to bite my tongue.
True people do have piercings for different reasons. They have their opinions and I have mine.
Anyone who is that bored and wants to find out what my opinions are may PM me.
Anyway thanks for all the tips so far guys :D
I've not read the whole thread as I've just returned from a piercing/other related stuff weekend down Sarf (which was excellent) and I've been driving for hours.
But...if you want any advice just drop me a PM plus I have a whole range of tunnels, plugs, stretching crescents etc etc. All autoclaved and shiny shiny.
My lobes are 14mm, could go higher but this is fine for now.
As to the "blah blah blah I dont like what you do brigade)" - fk em, its your body just ignore them.
I'll throw the Knotty Boy stickers in with the jewellery haha ;)
Right, g'night.
Take it easy.
coopster1974 09-08-2004, 01:21 Apart from the tribal people I've seen on TV I've never seen a "normal" person with it done - until a couple of days ago.
WOW - a mixture of revulsion and wonder all at the same time.
I wouldnt like it myself but if ya want it do it.
This was pointed out to me a couple of weeks ago by a clown we had for my sons birthday.
He'd not long gotten over cancer and proceeded to tell us about his nipple piercing and his doodah ring he'd had done. His thinking being that he was now going to live his life however and do things he wouldn't normally have done.
My initial thoughts were "yeah nice one" but it then occurred to me how surreal it was that a guy in a clown costume was telling me how his girlfriend really gets off on his piercing!!
Yes, you can get them done by a professional, but I've always preferred to do my own. This is mainly because if it's a tight stretch, I like to slowly push the taper through over the course of a few hours or even do it in a hot bath as the steam will help.
You can buy tapers and jewellery online at places like www.wildcat.co.uk or www.coldsteel.co.uk, but as SLH mentioned earlier, the knitting needle method is good if you're on a budget and they conveniently come in all the sizes you would need!
If you decide to do it yourself just remember to take it slowly, use plenty of lubrication and stop if it hurts. You'll find that the bigger you go, the easier it will eventually be. Also, try to leave at least a month between each stretch to allow the tissue to get used to its new position. If you try to do too much too soon, it will become sore and irritated and you may even split the skin if you're not careful.
Mornin :)
Just a quick note about stretching methods.
Once I got to 8mm I started using PTFE tape. Wrap a little around the tunnel or plug then pop it back in, leave for either a few hours or maybe a day or two (just depends how your lobe handles it). Keep adding a little bit more until its the size of the next plug or tunnel you want to go in (eg. 8mm - 10mm).
I remember I went from 1.6mm to 10mm in about 6 months. My ears started to become a lot more elasticated and supple at 10mm and it was a lot easier and pain free to go up a size after 10mm.
Like the previous poster said - there's NO RUSH! :) Take your time, have a bath (loosens the skin), chill with it.
I've read the whole thread now, quite laughable really but unfortunately its to be expected. Stretching lobes is quite common nowadays too. Oh well it is Sheffield after all...

do you know if there is an age limit for the sale of earlobe plugs as my eldest daughter decided to take it upon herself to stretch her ear thanks
miwki_buden 31-07-2006, 20:15 i got my tounge pierced my lip0 and my belly button. planning more for the future. not everyones cuppa tea but personally i like them and i get them done very cheap :hihi:
badhairdo 09-08-2006, 16:39 I can stretch them for you at a price, or you could pop in and I can advise you on how to DIY safely and how to look after them. I work Mondays and Thursdays from Eternal Ink on West Street (opposite Swim Inn). I don't charge for consultations.. only work done :) Oh, and I'm the one with the 22mm lobes (you wouldn't want to meet me down a dark alley!!). Just ask for Tiff.

there is no age limit on the sale of body jewellery. There is no age limit with piercing per se, but most reputable studios won't pierce under 16 year olds or 16-21 year olds without valid ID (thats my policy anyway - and I'm rather strict on it)
Those that do pierce minors legally have to have consent from a parent or guardian.. but it's still a huge grey area.
Rusted Root 09-08-2006, 22:19 So then, how much do you charge? Because even after 2 years I still haven't stretched my lobes yet, and unfortunatly one of my lobes has healed up completely. Ah well ...
tinkabel 09-08-2006, 23:29 Yeah, it's just like tongue or genital piercing, or that god awful tongue splitting! I personally can't see the point, it's not like you're being different because everyones had it done.
I wish you hadn't mentioned tongue splitting, i'm going to have nightmares tonight!! Earlobes stretched i can handle and obviously on the right people they look great but tongue splitting?!!!! Does it stay like that permamently?!!
badhairdo 10-08-2006, 00:00 £10. That doesn't include jewellery though.
I really don't understand how people can find someone with fleshrings scary compared with a gang of chavs :? generally speaking in a dark alley your far better off bumping into some goth/metal-head than some chavvy piece of scum
anyways on topic, all the people I know that have had it done have done it themselves mostly with the cone shaped things and slowly expanded their lobe holes over weeks / months... just dont go totally mental streaching until you've decided it suits you because if you go really big it may never grow back properly...
personally i'm not into piercings for myself, but thats just cos i dont think anything looks like it will suit me... but i think some things look really great on some people... and each to their own eh? :D
Revelations 10-08-2006, 03:37 I watched a program on TV about "tongue splitting", Did look quite good afterwards. The guy did have about 15piercings on his head tho and did suit him very well.
